I wouldn’t be surprised if the wycombe game is tied in with a deal for knight/Muskwe... possibly both.

Pretty sure we lost to Northampton  in 2013 too. Pearson Out hysterics preceeded by a record breaking season in the Championship

Yeah, for me, pre season is about fitness, tactics and fun. Make all the mistakes you like, just learn from them.

 

Tbh I'd be more concerned if we did one of those USA pre season tournaments and took it seriously. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, SPURS.

I'm pretty sure under Pearson most years we had poor pre seasons. I recall losing to Northampton and another lower league side too, possibly Cambridge!? 

 

Results don't really mean anything but it's always funny to see the people thinking we'll go down on the back of them.

The schedule is going to be ridiculous again isn't it? Euro 2020 final is 11th July, our first pre-season game is 24th July? Just 13 days off if any of the lads get there. Then only 10 days after the Wycombe game we're playing in the Community Shield. I really hope we have 3 or 4 extra players who will actually play occasionally, to give some of the lads a rest.

how come we seem to have more glamorous friendlies 5 - 7 years ago? even before the title win we had monaco with some glam players and real madrid

We had a couple after KP took over when the stadium was renamed and they wanted big names here to advertise it but there's been a mix of big teams usually competing in mini tournaments elsewhere and us wanting a proper competitive games against sides similar in stature to us like Atalanta, Munching Grabbags etc in recent years. We probably won't get a 'name' this year because the focus will be on the City game completing the prep.

That will be the same for all teams, especially Man City but at the same time fewer of our lot will need to build up their sharpness whilst we also have Maddison, Barnes, Vardy etc who will have had a proper summer off. You'll definitely see a lot of KDH filling in for Youri & Praet as well as a few of the kids like Shane Flynn getting a chance too

Plus the Olympics thrown in on top, where depending on signings going through, we could have 3 players lining up for France. The final of this will also be on the 7th August, you’d have to say that France have a really god shot at making the final too - they have a group with Japan, Mexico and South Africa.

and also I swear bar the Real Madrid game we got pretty poor turnouts for these games.
