Usually there's one or two friendlies announced by now. Any idea on where we might be going on a pre-season tour, if at all?

Community Shield on 8th Aug so I guess our last friendly will be 31st July/1st Aug?

Anyway, a thread to keep up to date on pre-season activities and shenanigans...

Personally I'd like to see the foreign glamour ties put to bed for another year. Get some lower league opposition and spread some cash around.

Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole and Bournemouth await the Blue Army!

Would love a mini tour of say Scotland with some lower league teams away.

Give me Killie, Dundee United, Chesterfield, Wigan and Lincoln.

Killie and Morton would be nice as they are the two clubs closest to home for me.

Usually go to Austria for pre-season don’t we? Will just depend on whether they are allowed to go I imagine

Most of our friendlies will probably be local/lower level teams like the last couple of seasons

I can't remember who is was, but I know someone spotted we are down to play vs Alvechurch on 30th July. I imagine it's going to be purely the U23s, but still, it could be a good night out!

Great pub/micropub scene round Chesterfield's ground, even if it is a slight pain to get to from the station. Definitely one of the better new stadiums for a proper day out.

Whilst the glamour friendlies bring in some extra revenue, for me the idea of pre season matches is to have plenty of the ball so that a cohesive style is adopted prior to the first league game. When we went on the Worldwide pre season circus tour after winning the league, I think part of the reason for our poor start to the following season can be attributed to the fact we spent most of the time chasing the ball in these games, rather than developing our own pattern of play.

So for me local friendlies against lower league opposition is far better preparation for the season ahead.

Given Covid and the fact that this will be our first pre-season at Seagrave, it makes some sense just to stay home and play local. No need to risk anything. Forest, Derby, Cov and Northampton could all be decent warmups and the Community Shield (in all honesty) should be considered another friendly. If anyone is travelling, get Lille to come and visit for a celebration of underdog champions.

As it stands, Hotels are now opening, so could come here.  But given the new facilities with sleeping accommodation, why risk Covid?  Seagrave can offer much more than any Training Camp.

That 2016 preparation really didn't help- not just the travel but the media and social side of it, we just weren't used to it.

This is a great time to stay local and support the lower divisions and non-league.

I'd like to see us keep it similar to the last few seasons but with an away game against a Bundesliga side this time.

Then maybe a home game/testimonial where everyone can properly send off the players who deserve it over the last few years but it doesn't count towards the squads more 'serious' preparation for the new season. Basically a big piss up
