Back at Seagrave, amongst our first team squad, full pre-season, could this be the moment we see him play for Leicester City, for real now.

 

Best player in an average Luton Town team, in fact one of the best midfielders in the Championship last season.  A player who oozes genuine quality on the ball for a 22 year old.

 

Can he make the step up?

I'd be amazed if he isn't involved regularly in some capacity in the squad next season. Could be as effective as Barnes has been for the side earlier this season.

Progressed significantly these last 18 months, could become a valuable player for us but its too early to tell until we see him at this level. Glad he's ours though, the seasons him and Sowah have put in would command probably £10-15m each if we wanted to sign them from other clubs.

Excited for this one. Another academy graduate who you would think we can trust to run our cup games next year. He’ll feature a lot.

Glad we can promote from within. By my reckoning that's Hamza, Justin, Barnes, Chillwell, KDH and Tavares in the last 3 years that have all moved up. 

Not sure if Justin counts though?

Definitely doesn’t count. We paid a fair bit for him and he went straight into the first team.

He certainly doesn’t count when he was signed for £8m.

It took Barnes a season to be top quality after stepping up a league. We were at one point regularly watching Barnes panic and float it over the bar. And Barnes had nearly zero competition and all the playing time in the world. I’m obs excited for the lad but expectations need to be tempered.

The Luton fans say he plays like a veteran so maturity is not a problem. If Praet leaves he steps straight into his role. I shouldn't think he would start too often but an excellent asset on the bench. A year or so he could be a main man.

It's a lower level but if you speak to any Luton fan they say he is the best players they've had in decades. Other fans of Championship teams say he was the best player on the park when they played Luton.

 

He's certainly an intruiging player and we might well have a PL player on our hands which is a huge boost.

Rodgers will ease him in carefully , hopefully injuries won't force too much responsibility on him yet. He is technically good and strong but will need to think that bit quicker.

Oooh I forgot about KDH for a while. This is really exciting having him join the A-team. He's gonna kick on and do really well like Luke Thomas. Just need the chances to play. Exciting times indeed.

I was one of the very few who would have given James another chance but it was not to be . If KDH is as good as peak Matty , I will be more than happy.

Well... I’m not sure James is ready for Prem level football either.
 

Barnes ripped up the Championship, and had better stats, goals and assists, with fewer minutes played, albeit playing in a different position, and it still took him a while to step up a level.

Goals and assists do not completely define a central midfield player.

I will also add that the number of assists depends on those who are on the end of the chances.

Exactly. The fan reports of KDH are probably better than the ones for Barnes. So we could be sitting on a gem

yeah I was in a meeting today with a Luton fan - who completely out the blue said he was their MOTM just about every time he played - and could they have him for another season please....
