Venezia were 3 up at home to Verona at HT.

Verona have turned it around and now lead 4-3.

OHL old boy Henry has scored for both sides  :S

And the 2021 Canadian Premier League Champions are...

Pacific FC(Victoria B.C.)

Was disappointed my local Hamilton Forge couldn't make it 3 for 3 as league champs, but it was a good match(yes we do playoffs here lol) and it was the first season where I'd actually got to go see them play.

I definitely will be a better supporter for the next season.

While I rarely watch MLS, I will be watching the final today.  I do like Portland -- largely because of their park.

They play in what used to be the absolute, unique gem among minor league baseball parks and now is the most consistently packed MLS ground.  At first I mourned the "loss" of that ballpark to put a soccer club in a hipster city, but that was too harsh.  It's a better match of sport to that city.  The crowds are much bigger than they ever were for baseball.

So go Timbers!  Especially as they are going up against NYCFC and the evil empire of City Football Group.

[post-match update]

NYCFC in a shootout.  Unfortunately Portland’s keeper and #9 choked both in regular time and the shootout.

NYCFC were infuriating to watch.  Diving … time wasting … and incessant grabbing and tactical fouling everywhere in their end.  When they talk about how teaching a style of football to drive the “City DNA” through all their clubs -- well, there you have it.  How much easier to teach grabbing arms and shirts than positional defending.

Results, metrics, and eye test all show that NYCFC has been one of the best teams in MLS over the last few years, and perhaps the biggest underachievers in the 2022 season until their results caught pace with their play.

Saying they don’t play positional defense is just not true.

Every good team fouls high up the pitch, too (in fact I wish Rodgers would tell his team to do more of that).

I mean, if you want to die mad about NYCFC winning MLS Cup, you’re well within your rights to die mad, but at least give City some credit.

NYCFC played well —perhaps about as well as you could reasonably expect anyone to play in a rainy away cup final in Portland — right up until the last second of normal time. Even then, I thought they could feel unlucky as I thought the refs missed a foul by Mabiala on Chanot for the winner (although credit is due to whatever Buffalo Wild Wings bartender hit the secret button to make that happen).

[Edit to say I wholeheartedly endorse anyone watching more MLS, especially the playoffs, which just serve up crazy game after crazy game after crazy game every year.]

Just chucked the Melbourne derby on during tea at the cricket. Victory fans making a proper racket to be fair. Also Paddy Kisnorbo managing Melbourne City.

At this rate England will have the worst fans in the world.:D

I remember the yanks coming over to tour some UK matches and not understanding why the fans were so quiet, seems fan culture is growing everywhere apart from here.:(

Amazing isn’t he lol

Think I saw that was his 27th red card.

He must just be so cynical and takes people out for the “good of the team”

It’s a cult figure like record but surely wouldn’t be seen like that now ?

Been playing as SK Brann in the Norwegian league on Fifa and I chose a pretty terrible time to check on them - despite being one of the biggest teams in Norway they’ve been battling relegation and recently been under police investigation for 12 of the players staging a Thailand style orgy on the pitch. They managed to scrape a last minute equaliser against the champions Bodo/Glimt and a win at home on the final day to set up a relegation playoff with Jerv from the league below.

In crazy fog the game finished 4-4, with Brann getting a red card and missing 2 penalties, all for them to lose 7-8 in a penalty shoot out to suffer relegation. So Norway’s second biggest city’s team will be in the second division next year….small consolation for them I’ll probably end up winning the Champions League with them 😂

Check out the video, despite the fog it was an incredible game

Correct. It's completely to do with it being in the middle of the season. Or at worst because people don't think the AFCON is a very good standard compared to other tournaments.

Nothing to do with racism whatsoever.
