For the life of me I will never, ever understand the common habit in football of abandoning what was working for you. 

 

England started this game with so much energy and enthusiasm, Italy looked utterly shell-shocked. 

 

Why the fvck would you then respond to that by parking the bus and trying to defend for 88 me?

I mean in Southgate's defence, almost every manager in the world has fallen for it in one manner or another. Pep is one of the best managers of my lifetime but he's a right fvcker for abandoning his principles under pressure and over thinking his tactics.
