Honestly £30m and Willock would be enough for me to sell Maddison, really don’t get Arsenal as a club get some any promising youngsters atm but don’t seem to actually want them

Absolutely not. We'd need at least £50mill and Willock, who had a bright spell but is yet to see if he can continue to repeat that.

I’d say more than 50m if Jack The lad is reportedly going for 100m.

If it's solely cash you'd want at least £70mill for him, maybe a bit more

You can't be sticking Maddison in the same bracket as Grealish right now, not until he proves his fitness and has a good season

I think Rudders may have a different view. No way a 50% discount on 100m.

You're fully right there, but the prices of Grealish etc then increase the amount we can ask for, for players such as Maddison who are in the category below.

Anyway, THEY SAY that Arsenal are now looking at Bruno Guimarães, so could mean Maddison is a no-no  :dunno:

They will probably end up with Frank Bruno.

Why would he want to go there anyway.  Arteta is clueless and can't see him lasting another season. If maddison has got any sense he will stay at Leicester.  It don't help seeing sky posts saying Rodgers has made his mind up. There words"rodgers bench maddison'" sky are terrible

Your sort of forgetting Grealish shinbone issue which saw him miss 12 PL games, Maddison miss 7.......

His shinbone issue is recurring, he missed 15 game before with the same issue a few seasons ago.

Maddison all comps 42 games 11 goals 10 assists

Grealish all comps 27 games 7 goals, 12 assist

Whilst he wasn't always fully fit, 42 games is a decent amount for someone with fitness issues

You absolutely can to be honest. I thought before Maddison's injury last year he was comfortably ahead of Grealish. Infinitely better playmaker to be quite honest and probably a better goal threat.

Grealish's value and stature at the moment is about 30% genuine talent, 70% bizarre tabloid hype. I don't know if his agent is paying some world class PR firm but how he went from being Tabloid Smear Target #1 to the darling of English football is beyond me.

Madders' first instincts on receiving the ball are to turn on it, get forward momentum and immediately look for a key pass, all of which he's excellent at. Grealish's instinct is nearly always to put his foot on the ball, slow the attack to a standstill, wait to draw in a couple of defenders then showboat to win a foul.

If you want to build a team to play creative, attacking football instead of just relying on set pieces then I can't for the life of me understand why you'd pick Grealish over Maddison (or if you're England, Foden.)

Grealish was on course for the being the POTY before his injury last season! what are you smoking?

Thats a convenient narrative, and its true that Maddison missed less games than Grealish, but to suggest that Maddison was at full throttle in the games he played post injury is extremely disingenuous. In the 8 gamjes he started post injuries, he neither scored nor assisted, and whilst Grealish did the same on his return, it was a smaller sample size of 4.

James is great, and he is a key player for us last season despite his injuries, also without him we are less creative and less savvy, but I am not sure he has the ability to scare players like Grealish does.

Its a game of opinions though  :scarf:

What I don’t understand, is that Willock had a breakout season and by all intensive purposes, was the breakout star January onwards. Yet ……. They’re on about farming him out again.

Surely they’ve not thought, “we could do with him”.

What makes a purpose intensive?

Are people on here seriously wanting Maddison sold?

I know we have a lot of football and financial experts on the forum , however, this train of thought does mystify me though.

I don't accept discussing the realities of selling Maddison means its about wanting him sold, its purely hypothetical in so much that

  • IF we want play with wingers, such as Berardi/Madueke/etc
  • IF Tielemans signs a new contract
  • IF we have bought Bouba for more than a rotation player

We then

  • Probably need money
  • Probably don`t need a 10

If he stays, great, but it may mean no winger and stay with a 10

All fart and no substance mind  :D

I think if Ricardo has a good start to the season he will be sold in January or the summer as doesn't have long left on his contract and could draw a decent fee. I think he's the next big player we are gearing up to sell and that's why we have recruited two other right backs to step up.

Needs to get back to his best though otherwise won't get a good enough fee for him.

Yeah, if indeed we are still operating in the one big sale model, I could see this

Hope he stays as he is a real talent. However, it could be that he would like a move and if the right bid came in, we'd be prepared to sell. In return, it would probably pay for Bernardo and Pereira, strengthening the squad without financial outlay.

I don't want Maddison sold, my kids think he's so cool and only watch the games with me if he's on TV. He's a likeable character and with the Media interested in him thus inturn Leicester get in the limelight so it's win win with him and Leicester. He's the modern face of Leicester, gives great interviews which other players shy away from because their English isn't perfect.

Feels a bit childish to say it (esp as I'm double his age) but he's my favourite player. I love him to bits.

And you are right..my daughter follows him on insta..he has that fun, funky, alt social media vibe that youngsters 'dig' (there's a word!)

I would be horrified if he was sold.
