Things I’m actually worried about:

1. Suicide Squad being shit

2. My kids never being able to buy a house

3. Climate change

4. Suicide Squad being shit
5. The prospect of another lockdown

6. Dr the Singh standing too close behind me

7. Any meal the wife cooks

8. Suicide Squad being shit
9. No matter how many mice I kill in the garage there is still one left crapping and pissing on everything

10. A resurgence in 80s music

And the possibility that Suicide Squad is going to be shit.

Things I’m not worried about:

1. Preseason games

2. Creaky noises at night

3. Dr the Singh when in another county

4. Preseason games

5. Preseason games

6. Preseason games

7. Sugar being removed from food

8. The RNLI doing their job

9. Invasions from space or EOL asteroids destroying earth

10. Preseason games

I’m 35 and still convinced I’m going to get violated by a zombie in my sleep so can we not be so flippant about number 2 please.

If Suicide Squad's main shtick is still going to be "oh look how sexy and quirky being mentally ill is, she's so hot" then it IS going to be shit.

Assume the worst and embrace the possibility of being pleasantly surprised.

Although, then you have to contend with the inevitable equation that the better the film is, the more traction it gets, the more vapid muppets are going to be out in force come October showing off their hideous Harley Quin cosplay attempts, so it's really lose lose.

Has anyone actually done any research into whether pre-season results matter or not? I'm not saying they're the be all and end all but I'd wager more often than not teams that look good and win games in pre-season have better relative seasons than teams who look bad and lose games in pre-season.

Case in point the pre-season before we won the league compared to the pre-season after that.

Yes it is about building fitness and giving youngsters a chance, but winning is a habit, momentum is hard to build but easy to lose etc etc. You'd rather be winning  these games than losing them.

Massive overreaction.

I remember Newcastle being mocked for losing 1-6 to Leyton Orient in pre-season but then they ended up winning the Championship by over 100pts that season.

Pre-season results mean nothing.

Personally I think a lot of fans think we are better than we are but we are not as bad as pre-season results are making us out to be.

Pre-season games are a bit weird in that team selections and tactics are a little all over the place and things are being tried out, there is no real rhythm. When we get to QPR this weekend and even more when we play Villarreal and Man City, we should see a bit more of what is to come with a more settled lineup.

It's nice to have a good/successful pre-season but it's not going to decide the fate of your season to come. Let's see how we not only fair against Wolves first game, but how we are looking come September/October when competitions kick in proper. Tricky but not majorly tough start to the season, important we hit the ground running if we have any ambitions of Top 6 again.

Starting the season slowly is a risk - but we haven’t started previous seasons slowly under brendan

3 points in august is worth the same as 3 points in May …. We know from experience that the latter is tough!

I expect that the coaching/fitness staff know what they’re doing ….. what’s important is to get the boys match fit and not to collect any muscle strains. The way we are playing is secondary to that.

Losing friendlies aren't the problem, its more the ability shown and the lack of squad depth which is highlighted at this part of pre-season. Rustiness is expected, players are missing, teams are chopped and changed but I still expect a bit of technique, creativity and invention against two League 1 opposition.

We are not a side who create loads, whoever we play, but I feel this will need to change this season if we want to challenge the top 4.

Yeah, the only players trying to impress are the players at the fringe of the squad -- which is why they are getting the accolades in the game threads. It may be coincidence, but Thanawat -- one of those fringe players -- is the one that went off injured.

I tend to feel my mental illness added to my hotness, tbh. That and the short, short skirts.

So how did we end up joint 3rd highest scorers last season, and 4th highest the season before?

Given the congestion of fixtures last season, the lack of rest between the end of the domestic game and the Euros, the injuries and everything that the players must be feeling physically after all of that, I'd be more worried if we were sending out the boys to batter minnows in pre-season.

I hope Youri doesn't run further than his sofa for another week.

We’re playing pretty weird teams as well which explains the lack of goals. Most of the creative players went in the second team. The first team was a straight 4-4-2 with two holding midfielders and two championship quality wingers, so couldn’t see us scoring anything really. If we have our strongest team out and don’t score any goals I’ll start to worry.

By having a good conversion rate which dried up a bit towards the end of the season and having a few games where things did click and won by a few. Generally speaking though I feel we have far too many games where we create very few clear-cut chances, puts so much pressure on Vardy, Iheanacho and now Daka to be clinical.

I think we're intentionally approaching the season with less intensity. Bit of a risk but given we've absolutely folded in the final third of both the last 2 seasons, and the crammed nature of the last 11 months, possibly sensible.

I agree, it feels like they are trying to change something.

Last couple of seasons we have had blistering starts, wobbles in the middle and collapsed in the final furlong.

Who knows whether it will work but it shows they are at least thinking about it, which is encouraging I suppose.

New plan is to start badly and then fall away.

Fall away first and end strong, sounds good to me so the crushing disappointment at the end of the season is flipped.

Last season's was pretty mediocre, draws with Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday. Won the first three league games scoring 12. Sousa's pre-season saw us score 5 twice and we know how that turned out.

The mix and match teams are playing a part but still, you'd hope for a bit more attacking stuff so far.
