I listen to the forum podcast pretty much every week. It passes the time when I'm cooking, or cleaning or whatever.

I actually do have an unpopular FT take in now that he's reigned in the pre-prepared lines significantly, he's a better commentator as a result.

I also think for the most part, he questions the manager well and gets insightful responses. Rodgers seems to like him, which is a stark contrast to previous managers.

IMO, he’s a good radio presenter, and gets an unfairly bad rap from FT.

Palmer-Atkin is just as bad, having managed to carve a career seemingly out of cosying up to him. How you get on the radio by being unable to pronounce words is beyond me

So often Owen uses a word entirely out of context, or gets a popular everyday idiom completely wrong. Maybe just an inexperienced broadcaster.

Peak Stringer for me was when he was commentating and Mendy intercepted the ball and he started singing the chorus to "Sound Of Da Police" (Whoop Whoop that's the sound of da police).

Blokes a complete Narcissist

He’s certainly been through a lot when he was young and I think that has a lot to do with the way he comes off.

I don’t think he’s great to listen to (the banter about other clubs is over the top, describing goals as “the best you’ll ever see” is probably not ideal for radio) but when he has good guests on the Forum, it can be a fun listen (the guests seem to keep some of the more cringey stuff in check). I’m in New York and listen occasionally during work hours.

Hearing Pipes talk about the way Stringer treated him when he was on his decline and how Stringer gave him another chance was very moving.

People who work with him seem to really like him and that has to say something about the guy.

I struggle to listen to any Football on the radio as they make it sound like we are about to score even when we are still in our own half!

And the guy raised a good chunk of change for charity recently— fair play to him on that!

At the start of every season I remember that he probably wakes up raging that he hasn't gone national yet and can't understand why, and it brings a smile to my face.

Problem with him, is that always been his ambition, hence the Apprentice appearance. He's not about getting there by being a quality commentator/journalist, all he wants is to be nationally famous, anyway it comes. So he tries too hard to get noticed, says and does stupid things, rubs people up the wrong way. Most local broadcaster get picked up by the nationals because they do a good job, not because they act up.

Met him a couple of times and he's always seemed a decent enough guy, not the best commentator but I feel informed on the situation. And his questioning for managers is usually pretty good

Could be much worse if I'm honest.

As for the criticism for the questions on a quiz, don't particularly get that.. limited pool in which you can draw upon to keep it relevant.

100%. I used to listen to Century FM back in the day when Darren Fletcher used to bring the Birch into the studio. Interesting to see Fletch’s progression from those days

He has turned what was a decent phone in into a Circus Goes on about a co presenters team that few care about and

takes no calls Programme few fans listen to

Alan Young was notoriously annoying at this. Couldn't pronounce simple foreign names correctly.

Has anyone on here actually appeared on the Forum? Or called up post-match?

There's a pool of people who appear very regularly who I'm assuming are Stringer's mates (Including one guy ALL THE TIME, I can't remember his name) but I always think some of them must be active on here...

Come on... Own up.

Remember once listening to him post Vichai's sad passing on 5 live. He made sure he had his full three minutes and said as much as he can. It could have been said in half of the time and a third of the words

I tuned in unusually on Monday and he was banging on about doing the show on a canal boat.

He's like a real life sitcom stereotype "local celebrity" that doesn't realise he's the butt of the joke. Absolute pratt.
