Eh. It's pretty baffling that we stuck nine past a team, then watched someone else do the same thing the subsequent season, then went "yeah we should buy half of their defence."

Booing and hassling players on match day is absolutely vile and shouldn't happen, likewise abusing them on social media.

But this is a pretty fair platform to express what's got to be clear discontent at a couple of extremely disappointing signings. Obviously, paying pennies for the two of them allowed us to sign Daka and Soumaré who look like fantastic purchases, so it's all swings and roundabouts.

But first impressions don't look like two good players that just need time to settle, they look like two substandard players that'll be out of the side as soon as Fofana and JJ come back.

This one is being repeated ad finitum too. It facile to even think that so why are so many bleating it? Our scouting team obviously got them in based on the strengths of their stats. They were the best we could get to cover until Fofana and Justin return. Maybe we could lay the blame at the rotten luck of the injuries and not these two quite so much?

Is this related to the Moscow 25?

Do you need to pay £600 to apply for a visa to enter Hampshire now and have travel/hotels booked by an agent approved by Matt Le Tissier?

I hope not. I've just entered the ticket ballot and really can't afford this, unless a large number of you buy a car off me in the next couple of weeks.

What cars have you got? Mazda 3? Renault 5?

Are they a bit like the Fun Boy Three, Gang of Four or the Dave Clark Five?

Certainly when they've played our defence has been in bits and pieces.

Peugeot 2008. Which is larger than any away allocation Bournemouth have ever given out :D

See The Car thread.

I can get you a Peugeot 5008, 2 in the front, 5 in the back lol

Shameless plug. Sorry

It's a bit silly criticising the players really, the criticism should lie at whoever was responsible for bringing Vestegaard in.

The Bertrand one is pretty irrelevant, a free transfer as a stop gap, to allow Justin to return from injury more slowly and to allow Thomas time to progress without being thrown into the lions den every week, it's a completely fine signing.

But we're not in the position as a club to be paying £15 million for a 'Stop gap'.

I think Amartey's expression after their 3rd goal said a lot, and I'm not surprised he's wondering how this guy is generally getting games ahead of him.

It's clear for me, Evans is our best CB, then Fofana, the on current form Amartey, followed by Soyuncu and finally Vestegaard.

I actually think, when we next play a back 4 again, I'd like to see Evans/Amartey together.

Soyuncu has cost us a goal more often that he hasn't in games this season, Norwich/West Ham/Man United/Moscow, and I'm sure there's others too.

I've said this before I beginning to believe what some are saying, that Vestergaard and Bertrand were Brendan/Congerton signings while Daka and Soumare were Leicester Recruitment team recommended signings. Such a vast difference in the type of signing we usually make.

Not really. After losing Morgan and Fuchs we needed a bit more experience for the back line so Bertrand on a free made a fair amount of sense. I’ve been surprised he’s not been up to the full back standards we expect, but then we’ve been spoiled with the standard of full backs in the last few years.

We all knew Vestergaard was a bit of a panic buy even at the time but one that had to be done after Forfana’s injury. He’s been brought into be fourth choice really, but getting much more game time than expected due to Evans’ problems. You’re not going to get too many experienced Prem players in knowing they’re not going to start if everyone’s fit.

Long and short of it is these two were bought in to be squad players, Daka and Soumare have been bought in to be current/future first team players.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion  but calling critics of the two saints ‘intellectually lazy’ is, well, erm... intellectually lazy, or ad hominem ie attacking the person not the argument.

To focus on the argument instead, either it was a pure coincidence the moment these two were dropped our results improved, or it wasn’t. I know which I think is more likely.

Eventually, of course, you may be right and they get better, but right now, I think they’ve been poor, and we have looked better without them. Some people may express this view in more colourful terms but the point remains the same.

No need to make a mountain out of a molehill…lol

It’s a descriptive, not ascriptive, term - substantively no different from “the Moscow 25” or “our Belgian Lads”.
You’re the one who seem to automatically ascribe negativity to the term, but they’ll have to ‘earn’ commendation or condemnation like other LCFC players.

Absolutely.

Both players for me were brought in to serve a purpose which was to be squad players not necessarily PL starters when all our squad are fit. The’ve been thrown in very early due to necessary circumstances and haven’t faired particularly well. They will both improve but it is what it is.

The question for me re: Vestergard is how many times has he played with Evans? Hardly played at all. We all know Soyuncu without Evans is half the defender he is alongside JE. CS doesn't lead the defence in Evans' absence. Not only is Vestergard trying to fit into a new team with no preseason he is doing so without it's defensive leader alongside Cags who always plays worse without Evans. I won't write Vestergard off until I see him play a few more games with Evans either in a back 3 or back 4. His distribution could be key to unlocking stubborn defences but he needs time to get that defensive understanding. We've had a very unsettled defensive unit all season with injuries to full backs centre backs and defensive midfielders meaning we've been chopping and changing a lot with a busy schedule.

Have you met a Leicester fan who players follow the leader? Me neither.

I'll grant you, Vestergaard looks ok for Denmark and ok in his first game but he's not great.

Poor Forfana is probably sat at home thinking this is my replacement?!?!?, there goes my wage increase spunking 15m up the wall.

Bertrand was always meant to be cover until Justin is back but he's still not good enough.

You have to remember also, the likes of Morgan, Mahrez, Okazaki and many more all got the same treatment UNTIL they proved us wrong, which they did. When they did they got praised and compliments. If they were good enough, having not played on the weekend, Rogers would have entrusted them for tonight's game.

I'm going to finish with this, if we brought 2 of Norwhichs defenders, what would you expect?

Bertrand has been the worst signing IMO so far, which is very odd given that in preseason he was impressive before he got covid. But any player needs half a season minimum before passing judgement. Illness probably did play a part, give a player a run of games and they will improve. Cases in point are Daniel Amartey and Bouba Soumare. James Justin and Harvey Barnes the same in the past. Also the team in general had been struggling and it's not just because of those two players, so it's not so easy to come in.

Last season we were spoilt by Castagne and Fofana who were immediately brilliant. That is not the norm unless you are a proven world class player. Jadon Sancho at 75m has done nothing for Man United yet as a comparison.

First time I've had to sub one of your posts, but seeing as you have so many of my likes I'm sure you can take the pain.

The best bit of Bertrand recently has been his first class ability to roll about on the floor when time wasting is helpful. I believe he has some throw-in routines in a similar vein which I am looking forward to seeing. :D

Bertrand was excellent in pre-season and the community shield prior to getting covid. Maybe there is something in that and maybe he deserves some slack and respect.

They were both bought as squad players IMO. Vestergaard hasn’t had a pre season and is carrying an injury I believe and I think Bertrand hasn’t been the same since covid.

They have been poor in the last few weeks but also everyone is very quick write people off.

It's not the FT way to give players time.

Soumare was getting some pelters from a few weirdos after an appearance as a sub in a game.

There's no time or chance given for players to prove themselves any more. It's a wider issue with society with just wanting everything good to happen instantly. I feel sorry for Vestergaard and Bertrand in that because they haven't had stellar games to begin with, they're automatically not good enough. And their starts at the club have coincided with the team generally being in bad form.

But ah well, they may go on to have good games with us and actually settle in, but people would have already made their minds up.
