Brentford 1-2 LCFC - Post Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Despite being second best it seems for most of the game, we should be very pleased with that win.

They are a good team. Battered Arsenal and should have least drew with Chelsea after battering them for the last 20 minutes. That and the trip to Moscow too.

Really chuffed with the 3 points and ninth place. Good place to strike from for higher position.

Peacock in the US. From minute one it was ‘Leicester don’t deserve this, Brentford are incredible, what a great side Brentford are’

Boring

All newly promoted sides ( Norwich apart) play with energy and run all day that’s a given . That however is their 3rd straight home defeat and against a side without 3 of their best and most influential players and who had a week to prepare against opponents who travelled to Eastern Europe to play in zero degree temperatures

Really poor first half, better second half but still not great. It was your classic ‘long trip to Moscow midweek’ performance but we did the important job of taking our chances and managing the game at the end.

Amartey, Ricardo, Evans and Maddison had very good games.

Massive win.

Just now, Yes said:

Couldn’t believe it when Danny Gabbidon said it was a penalty when Schmiechel caught Jansson, downright bizarre shout.

Lol 😂 even the other commentator was surprised he said it to be fair… there was no claim for one either, it is one of those 50/50’s being brave attempts you go in for and every chance you get caught

It wasn't though was it. Once we got the second Brentford became ever more desperate. Out went the methodical press, the control of the midfield and the fluid calculating attacking moves and as we exerted more influence on the game, they began hoofing it long.

I'm amazed how surprised some members of this forum were by their performance today. They move the ball quickly, press well and play attractive positive football. They've been a pleasure to watch over the last two years. This was always going to be a tricky fixture and yes, one that needed to be ground out but I thought we really came into the game in the second half. As per usual, some of the comments in the match day thread were absurd. It's the same people every time.

Totally agree a proffesional performance, wasn't pretty, but were better than them second half, not a total shithouse performance at all!!

pretty sure it was offside just before that anyway so wouldnt have been a pen even if he'd actually connected with his head

To be fair, the second half was considerably better.  Brentford were still comfortably the better side on the whole, but moments of quality can decide matches.  Very lucky to get three points there but you’ll certainly take them.

Brentford are a good side under a good manager.  They deserve better than what they’ve gotten the last two matches but it’s on them not to be wasteful with their chances.

Having a trip to Moscow on Wednesday was a massive challenge, even though it was Sunday game. Given it was more or less the same team aswell,  we were not at our best but we were simply clinical when we had to be.  Team selection was the right move by BR - and given the last two away games that was a very good performance.
