Absolutely deserved. The man is a class act.

Rodgers is a great manager, better than Ranieri, but something he could work on is trying to connect more with the fans. MON and Ranieri forged an emotional connection with us, which along with their successes is why we have fond memories of them. I'm not talking about passion, just more about showing emotion at the right times.

Actually thinking about it Pearson was similar to Rodgers. Another great manager for us, but IMO not as much of an emotional connection as MON / CR. All four will always be in high esteem by me though!

I don't think I've ever been more emotionally connected to a manager than Pearson so I'm surprised by that comment.

Agree with Rodgers though. Great manager but don't feel any connection with him whatsoever and his name barely ever gets sung.

I'm so pleased he got the reception he deserved.

What that man did for us should never be forgotten.

Had his name sung several times during the game too. He'll keep Watford up.

We gave him a good reception. It was deserved but to sing it numerous times during the game and louder than anything other song speaks volumes for me.

Get behind our team now.  Oh and our manager 🤪

He's a nice guy but watching his Watford team play reminds me why we sacked him. Not a good manager.

To be fair for a decent period of that first-half they were on top. The main difference between the two teams was that we have that quality at the top of the pitch, whereas they don't particularly. Also worth mentioning that the piece of defending which led to Maddison's goal was the worst I've seen at this level in years.

He was managing the team playing against us today. We support Leicester. Today his name was sung louder, several times, than any song in support of our own team. That's weird.

Come on dude, it's the fans just welcoming the man home. Of course we'd sing louder for him at times. We wanted to show our love. What he did in a single season changed our lives. Like others have said it wasn't just managing the team, it was how he and Vichai connected with the fans, took us on a journey with them.

I've absolutely no problem with the whole ground singing his name at kick-off and we acknowledged each other and it was a great moment. It's the first time we've seen him not under obviously difficult circumstances. However, when it got to like six times or whatever was during the game it just felt a bit too much and it felt especially awkward singing it when we were beating his team 4-2.

Welcoming him home six or seven times, louder than we sang for any of our current players today, is way over the top.

I think we saw the emotion pour out as much as we did, because it's the 1st time he's been back.  If he stays at Watford and comes back every season, you'd find that things would soon change.

I mean, what Ranieri did here is unmatched by any manager in a single season in football ever, but Rodgers is clearly a better manager.

Claudio delivered a Premier League title. Brendan choked two seasons running in missing out on the Champions league

Which is just a ridiculous debate, that needs putting to bed, Ranieri won us the Premier League, Rodgers the FA Cup and Martin O’Neil the League cup twice and established us as a decent top flight side for the first time in a long time - who’s the greatest is subjective, but we can all agree non of them are Nigel Pearson - 2 league titles, fighting wild dogs, bringing in Vardy, Drinkwater, Mahrez, fighting players on the sideline, FOAD, took us at our lowest point and built a premier league winning team, if you can’t see he is the greatest you must be an ostrich!
Is anyone on FT flexible enough to put their head in the sand? I don’t think so, I know I am, but are you?

King Nigel is the greatest!

Well their fans sang "He came fom Italy, he'll be sacked by January" so I don't see him coming back with Watford lol
