Results (and performances) have not been great, but isn't everyone here getting a bit hysterical?

Yes, the defence needs attention, but we'll soon have Justin and Fofana available.

Mid-table may be less than hoped for, but we could be a lot worse.  No reason we can't put together a string of good results in the New Year once the likes of Tielemans, Justin and Fofana are back.

....you do not become a supporter of your local football club and not have an emotional tie to your team!!!

You might as well be shopping at the market if you cannot bring emotion to something that you love.

Win or lose demands some reaction whether it is adverse our elation, there and then we express ourselves. Twenty Four hours later we reflect and perspective becomes a glaring light that tempers our thoughts.

Just take a look at the match threads, overreaction abounds with little or no filters in place.

   Are our supporters over emotional?

The answer is an emphatic yes, as are all supporters around the world. We have not as yet resorted to kill someone due to their failure to win a game of football, but you would think that was emotion at another level.

All fan bases are the same. We invest a lot of money into watching our clubs, and naturally we want to see a return. Whilst that is not guaranteed, the one thing you expect is effort. Might sound a bit 1990’s but it is a fact…

Im not suggesting we win every game, because we won’t, but it is the fact we’re being pushed over easily and it even though it’s probably confidence, but we look like we are severely lacking in effort at times, and that is indefensible.

I think it's fair to be extremely annoyed with what we are being served up at the moment.

We have a squad that's proven to be capable of challenging for the top 4/6, a manager that's on one of the highest salaries in the league and yet the team is under-performing and has been for months.

It isn't just the set-pieces that are embarrassing, the whole defensive unit absolutely shit themselves under any sort of pressure, it's bad coaching and needs to be sorted & yet it's the same every week.

If you think Fofana and Justin coming back is going to fix our defensive issues then I've got a bridge to sell you.

2 massive injury victims... they wont be up to speed until the start of the 2022 season, like Ricardo before etc

You have to judge every team, manager, club on its merits. We have one of the best paid managers, the most valuable squad in our history, a state of the art £100m training ground. I was willing to accept transition and injuries perhaps stalling the season as they can do but I cannot abide the continuing failure to address key but basic issues.

Ultimately the set piece problem sums up all the frustration. It’s a basic, schoolboy problem that is not only going unresolved it’s getting worse. If you can’t address these simple issues how can we progress? Especially when we are likely to lose such a key player as Tielemans in the summer.

I think it is seeing the same mistakes week after week that is doing it with not a lot of evidence of change in approach.

I don't think many of us expect top 6 year after year but seeing games like yesterday thrown away after dominating is enough to irritate anyone.

Exactly this!

I think a lot of the issue is underachieving. It'd be one thing if Brendan came in and we hovered between 8-12 for bit with a QF/ semi cup run.

But we didn't - we achieved consecutive top 5 finishes and an FA cup over the European champions, as well as seemingly managing to throw away champions league football - TWICE.

To now see us completely flap at any set piece and struggle against anyone half decent, with no huge (and I mean huge) losses to the squad - that's what is winding people up. Especially as we're nearly at the halfway mark of the season.

It's an emotional sport , what does anyone expect? for most of us it's why we love it. All the ups an downs of our emotions go hand in hand with being a supporter.

No one questioned our emotion when we won the league and the F.A cup so why question our negative feelings at the moment? it's all part of the game.:scarf:

One post above mentioned the dismal half a season after winning the league where we looked like relegation candidates…

After winning the FA Cup, I wonder if there is a deeper issue at the club with not knowing how to handle and follow up success?

And yes we are too emotional - but that’s football and we are invested in it. I’ve had a crap day so far today because of the implosion yesterday.

I think it's more of a case of the players we have on paper should be good enough for a top 8 (or top 6) finish, we are so inconsistent even during games (first half vs second half yesterday). If we were just always rubbish then people would accept that, if we had very mediocre players than again people would accept that. We have quite a few players who should be some of the best in the world at doing what they do (Ndidi, Youri, Madders, Ricky P etc) but they are just not preforming to their standard currently, and that's where the frustration occurs.

Not sure I buy into this idea or not but you would think with the current gaffer he would be able to install a mentality of going again year on year.

My biggest fear is that if the team don't turn this around soon and we head into a disastrous tail-spin then unthinkable potential consequences await.

The new East Stand and Freeman's Wharf development would most likely be delayed and possibly eventually abandoned. It goes without saying how vital it is the the 'R' word doesn't pay us a visit.
