Main thing is we concentrate on the defence. Since Fofana lwft we’ve not had a top defender. I think Coady is OK but Vestergaard/Faes/Okoli are relegation material and our wing backs are not good enough. Concentrate on a RB and top CB and maybe a LB.

Get a centre back, a box to box midfielder that can give our midfield some presence out of possession and a new fullback. Best we can hope for. Secure the defence, somehow we keep scoring goals. Got to stop conceding them.

Imagine we had spent the Okoli and Skipp money on a decent RB & CB 😩

I think the midfielder is the most crucial.  Get someone, preferably box-to-box, but even just a DM, who has energy and toughness, who can protect our defence better than at present, and that could paper over the cracks in our defenders.

I'm assuming finances and the difficulties of the winter window, not to mention our unattractive position at the moment,  will limit the number & quality of purchases we can make. But if we could manage a few, clearly we are short of a quality RB, CB and forward too.

It's a shame we haven't felt able to give our youth more of a showing.  If either of Alves, Cartwright, Evans, even Monga, and any others I'm unaware of, could step up that would help and would be forward-looking to next season too (especially if we end up Championship), but I guess that's too much to hope for.

Fikayo Tomori’s future at AC Milan is under the spotlight, with increased interest from the Premier League in the defender.

Ontheminute.com understands that Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are interested in the defender .The England international’s agent is exploring potential transfer opportunities, sparking speculation about his next move.Fikayo Tomori, a vital figure for Milan, could be lured back to the Premier League if the right offer comes through. Newcastle is keen to bolster its defensive options, but competition is heating up with Leicester and Nottingham also eyeing the 25-year-old.

With Tomori’s contract running until 2027, prying him away won’t be easy. However, Milan’s openness to discussions gives suitors a glimmer of hope and the Italian side are prepared to sell the defender for around £27 million.

No chance he comes to us. His level is much higher than the dross we serve up.

We've stockpiled too many mediocre players, again. Expensive ones, too.

We're not really lacking depth in any positions. We just lack quality of depth in every position!

I think if pushed, we need a direct and dangerous winger first, a pacey, ball playing defender (anywhere along the backline) second, then we start to worry about (all) the other ares.

This is why KDH would be perfect

Someone should make a play about what happened on the Aranguiz thread.

I think if we were to create a stage production of our failed transfer business, it would cause more upset than Tristan and Isolde did……..

Can you name any hard bastards that actually play football?

That's the thing, we don't see them any longer,  like the Huth and Big Waz

Just seen Porto lining him up for 10m

Can't see Brighton selling him for that, that's about what they paid for him.  Unless of course they've decided he's not up to it and want to recoup their money.  That seems very un-Brighton though.
