They will know we are fragile at the back and especially from corners, which I think they will take advantage of. They are quite a big side in comparison to us and will know that our defence is easily bullied. With regards to Maddison, he is the key for us. If he has a good game, then the team usually does well. I would also like to see Daka start this one with Barnes and Lookman on the wings to try using their pace to get behind the defence. No we aren't. The side that starts against Leicester will probably have only 3 outfield players of 6 foot tall or more, and one of those is Dwight McNeil who doesn't use his height. (If Rodriguez and Cork keep their places ahead of Cork and Westwood, which I suspect they won't, that will be 5 six-footers. But Weghorst is the only one above 6 foot 1.) It's a common myth that Burnley are big (just as it is a myth that they are a dirty side), and myths is what they certainly are. We work corners like a big side. Don't doubt that. 4

Ok but I could imagine Burnley being a dominant team when it comes to corners? I just can see Leicester’s defence getting bullied once again from a set-piece.

Ben Mee's not even six feet tall, possibly the smallest centre half in the PL, but that doesn't stop him winning headers. Edited 27 February 2022 by dsr-burnley 2

We probably need to play Amartey and Soyuncu again and have the work rate of KDH and Ndidi ahead of them. We cannot afford to start with Barnes and Lookman. ....no reason why we cannot play 4-3-3 for this!!! Kasper Albrighton Amartey Soyuncu Thomas Wilf Maddison KDH Lookman Daka Barnes We can beat Burnley, just need to protect the backline enough.
Bazly Posted 28 February 2022 Posted 28 February 2022 The next two matches are our exciting 3rd and 4th 6 pointer relegation games this season. Lose these and we will be right in amongst it battling for that vacant 3rd relegation slot and I'd expect Rodgers would be out on his ear.

The last couple of seasons, and especially this one, I have noticed Mee looking like the star of that central defense, with more and more indifferent play from Tarkowski. 1. Am I off base? I admit that I (like most neutrals) don't watch many Burnley games. 2. If I'm not off base, do you think Tarkowski is just pissed off at not being granted a move, and/or playing his "B" game to keep himself whole until he gets one? Or is he a tad over-rated at this point? Just asking for a friend
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 February 2022 Posted 28 February 2022 Can see their big CF bullying our defence tbh. Tough game but Burnley aren’t much good really. If we play our best, we’ll win

I've seen Burnley play controlled, patient build up football many a time. Particularly when managing a game. clichés that do ring true for Burnley imo is the time wasting ( I consider that a dark art amd kinda admire it) and the underrated skill of being garbage at times but still shithousing a goal (staying in games when being overrun is a talent, one which we certainly dont have) 1

I’d say one of the most remarkable successes of Burnley in recent times is their organisation particularly. We had that in 2015/16 and need to rediscover that. They also play for each other and have a clear identity. It will be interesting your opinion on ourselves.

In both games we were dominant for long periods, and they are two of the better teams in the league. Even with our ropy defence we have the potential to be a very good team. A team very capable of beating Burnley if we are disciplined, clinical and bang up for it. Have i convinced you? Have I convinced me? You'd convinced me until I got to the bit in bold.

That midfield looks spot on for me. Youri and Maddison are too lightweight together for me and of the two, Maddison is in far better form. On the right he's merely Rodger's new Perez plaything 🤣 1
ozvaldo Posted 28 February 2022 Posted 28 February 2022 Kasper Ricardo Amartey Soyuncu Thomas Wilf Soumare KDH Maddison Kelechi Daka There's no point playing with one isolated striker, especially against this lot. Let's go and ****ing have them. 2
Vazman Posted 28 February 2022 Posted 28 February 2022 I've got a feeling / hoping, this is going to be the start of a good run of matches for us, Foxes 4, Burnley 1.

For whatever reason, Tarkowski hasn't been quite as consistent as we would like. Though for the last few weeks, he's ben outstanding. Ben Mee is special though. Played his 350th league game for Burnley at weekend. In a way I'm glad his passing is suspect at best, because otherwise he wouldn't have played so long at Burnley. Early days he made this headed clearance at Reading. He's never lost a step from that attitude. 2 1
