KrefelderFox666 Posted 7 March 2022 Posted 7 March 2022 The problem is, whatever the result in the 1st leg, they could stick 3 or 4 past us away and we crumble. We might sneak a result at home, 1-1 or 2-1 win. Then need a massive shift away from home. Very tall order. On our day we are better, based on this season we get turned over. But let's see, we should have beat Villa over 2 legs but we all know the end result...

Call me mad but I fancy us in the away leg, in some ways a draw at home might make us go for it more than trying to protect a 1 or 2 goal lead. 3

Like you say it's a tall order, we need a couple goals lead to go there with in my view. Good chance we have Vardy, Riccardo, Justin and Fofana fit for the away leg, which makes us a total different side. Edited 7 March 2022 by coolhandfox 1

I don't think Vardy is particularly good at playing upfront on his own these days either but that seems to get overlooked. Yesterday was another example. I don't remember him looking like he would score or even having a chance. If Iheanacho had played like that yesterday this forum would have been all over it. The fact that when he came on he was playing up front on his own and did more than Vardy who apparently can play upfront on his own. Daka and Iheanacho are very decent players in my opinion who we are lucky to have. The fact they we can't seem to utilize them to anything like their best is our failing not that of the players. Guessing the "our" in question is Brendon Our, right? In which case totally agree 👍

I was thinking exactly the same. We need a result at home that makes us go for it away (like a draw or a 1 goal lead). Seems weird to think like that.
Roazhon Posted 7 March 2022 Posted 7 March 2022 Hello, the match against Angers was not as easy as that. In the first half, Rennes dominated, but with a certain lack of realism and precision, fortunately a nice goal, a bit lucky... More complicated second half, the famous Rennes weak time!, fortunately this time without consequence , Angers missing a few good situations, then awakening at the end of the match with the entries of Doku and Tait. The absence of Majer weighed in the middle, in the creation. 3

RowlattsFox Posted 7 March 2022 Posted 7 March 2022 I'm not sure what is worse, us having to go to Rennes with a deficit or us going there trying to defend a lead

Roazhon Posted 7 March 2022 Posted 7 March 2022 Google translate is excellent, in fact ! And why is he a « mouchard » ?

Btw, how many fans are you taking to the KP on Thursday ?

Jamie Vardy's wife and Wayne Rooney's wife have taken each other to court over some silly squabble..... The opposition fans sing that song ( 🎶Rebecca Vardy is a 'grass' 🎶...i.e. telling her version to get Colleen Rooney in trouble) to Jamie Vardy to wind him up.... It does the job as he then usually scores against them 😁

Actually, the line you are looking for is "Jamie Vardy, ta femme est une balance" . It reminds me of a nice "classy" chant that used to be sung to rival goalkeepers, especially Mickael Landreau, GK at our archrivals Nantes, that went : "Landreau, your wife is right here, in front of us..."... That would always make him smile, chuckle a bit, and then annihilate every single opportunity we managed to create. Hi by the way, Rennes fan here, I've been reading you for a few days, interested in what you think and know about Rennes, having seen them play against British teams in the past or on BT (we're quite often picked for the Sunday afternoon game) In terms of what to expect from us, if your game against Leeds is anything to go by, you should expect exactly the same but with competent strikers upfront for Rennes. We have had a habit of absolutely suffocating our opponent in the opening 20 minutes (never conceded before the 19th) by repeating attacks across the width and the depth of the pitch, pressing very high, causing mistakes and, at times, playing some of the best attacking football not just in France but in Europe (I'm not joking, check this video with five of our best team goals this season, missing more recent, equally as well constructed ones... We have scored over 50 goals in Ligue 1 this season, normally take between 12 and 20 shots in a game, pretty much without fail BUT there is also a big caveat to our game. We will absolutely roll over our opponent, score one goal, maybe two, and start sleepwalking for the next half an hour, at which point comes the opportunity for our opponent to regroup, counter and peg us back. So sometimes we'll end up winning 5-0 or 6-0 (that happened twice this season), sometimes we'll lead 2-0 after 20 minutes to concede the equaliser 15 minutes later (happened against Montpellier, we won 4-2, at home against Vitesse, we drew 3-3), sometimes we'll just not get our head out of the water and end up losing a game we totally dominated (most recently at Clermont, losing 2-1) So really, from our part the guarantee is we will have the chances whatever you do, but we might not score enough of them to ever be safe. From your part, things might be rough early on (it has been for every team playing us since october, including PSG) but if you weather the storm the chances will be there for you to hit us badly, not only on the counter but also by taking over possession and the overall upper hand on the game. Very curious to see who will be in the lineup for you. We have had issues with snappy, fast, efficient vertical football this season, and clearly the presence of Barnes and Maddison both fit to serve Vardy would be a challenge for us, especially as our wingbacks love to play very very high and will happily leave space behind them in order to help building our attacking opportunities. I could see goals an an exciting game on Thursday, I'd happily settle for a 2-2 draw Edited 7 March 2022 by Allo_Allozh 9 2

Springboard his leicester career🤞 ....very much doubt it, this is not the same player that we brought in!!! He will have to take full charge of our midfield, in order for him to do the things that he does, in order to add any value to this team. He is not going to be afforded that amount of freedom due to the existing players in that midfield area. Ndidi as a DM works for Soumare as Ndidi wants to do his own thing, KDH is a force in the middle and drives the team (so that is a clash, where perhaps the only solution is 2 #8s) and Youri's creativity will be lost but we will have better control in that area. We have a puzzle that does not fit at the moment.

CosbehFox Posted 7 March 2022 Posted 7 March 2022 The one thing I did see from Rennes on Sunday where we could get joy and the fan has mentioned it too. Both of their full backs bombed on a lot (actually some of their switch reminded me of how good we can be in that area if we had a fit Ricardo and a Justin on the left) - there's space there behind in the transition. Ligue Un's quality is under-rated but the question when their sides face English opposition is physicality and pace. Lille at Chelsea knocked it around lovely. Then when Chelsea turned on the pace they couldn't keep up. Looks a really good match up of opposition which will probably lose due to our weaknesses in defence 1
