They haven't increased prices ages

They supported all their staff during lockdowns

The staff will be getting pay rises.

They are a business, every other business seems to be putting up prices.

If they increase by 5% that approx another £25 or £1.32 a game.

Once you throw in your season ticket you won't get another bite for years and will have to pay walk up prices.

Yes, I agree with most of that, compared to other clubs, we haven't done badly with our owners at all really and for all sorts of reasons, we're very lucky to have ours I think personally.

However, the reality remains that compared to other forms of income, season and other match day tickets contribute less in comparison to media and sponsorship streams. Dortmunds massive 26,000 capacity stand charges around £13 for a match day ticket, how do they do it?

Attitude to live support is arguably quite different by German clubs compared to the UK but also, in general, our players are paid considerably more. However, and without wearing rose or even blue tinted glasses, I don't think those huge wages, compared to other players over the last 20 years have given us a better or more skilful entertaining product. To be honest, I think clever and sometimes subtle media hype has actually covered over a poorer product.

Due to less and less Saturday 3pm football, my son and I have been watching quite a bit of much lower tier football both in Leicestershire and Nottingham (he's at Uni there). At £7 and £5 it's certainly cheaper and to be honest, we really enjoy the match day experiences. Some players are fitter and more skilful than others but there's always considerable passion and a bit of blood and thunder. Compare that to some of the dire and dull side to side and backwards shite that Rodgers has contrived to get his players to serve up at times and I know which frustrates me the most. Nobody likes to lose but the manner of it is extremely relevant and important.

Much of whether people give up their season tickets or not will understandably relate to their personal financial circumstances and they are shortly going to change dramatically too and not for the better. Supporters are normal people and many will understandably, consider whether they can justify the cost of their ticket per se or not, but others may also, like with other commodities, ask themselves whether for the sacrifices they make, are they actually enjoying themselves and getting value for money or, has going to watch Leicester City or any other Premiership club, just become a habit that could be replaced?

Pre-match Press Conference vs Rennes - Brendan Rodgers

On Fofana

“He's a very talented young player to be able to tie him down tells you how much he enjoys it here.

He's been absoutely first class.

Delighted for him and the club and his teammates.”

On Fofana

“Fofana won't play vs Rennes as he's tested positive for Covid.

He could be available for the weekend”

On Rennes

“They've got an experienced coach, play good football and have some good players.

We're confident we can cause them problems tomorrow.”

More on Rennes

“They're a very good side, attack the game well.

Play 4-3-3 when they press but attack in more of a 4-4-2 structure”

Is Conference League main focus

“We want to finish as high as we can in the Premier League and go as far as we can in this competition.

The game at the weekend was a great example of the team coming together, we didn't play our best football.

We're starting to see that toughness in the team and that togetherness.”

Injury update

“JJ will be back, Maddison will be back, Vardy will be out, he got injured in the last game so will be out for the next few weeks.

The game may also come too early for Ricardo”

On Vardy

“For us a coaches and managers it's frustrating because you miss that level of player.

Hopefully he can get back, get fit again and we'll see how he is in the next few weeks.”

Vardy

“He took a knock to his knee and felt it the next day. It is just unfortunate. We will see how he responds to treatment, hopefully in the next three to four weeks.”

Playing for the fans

“It's been a challenging season for everyone.

That's who you play for.

If you're going to well in the competition you're going to have to beat some good teams.”

On KDH

“When he came back in the summer, you could see that he was playing with a purpose.

You could see where his game and mindset had improved because he had played under pressure.

He knew he would always get opportunities to play games then it was up to him.

The big turning point was the Southampton game, to come in and change the game, he gives us something other midfielders don't.”

On Rennes threats

“They have the striker up top who score goals, they also have the winger who scores goals.

They have contributions from all over the field it's a game where you know you'll have to defend well in.”

I'll cope. I really object to this it's OK because they have looked after us. The fact it they really don't need this money. The same as they really didn't need our 70 quid after giving us a refund, what was the point and technically they spent it all in less that a couple of months anyway even with furlough.

I'm shocked so many are happy to sit and accept it. It's terrible timing as well.

What rubbish, they've made it clear that this is a FAMILY working class fans club if anything.

Yep that sounds more like a ligament strain.

Perhaps because some of us appreciate that they haven't raised prices for a few years, had to happen sooner or later, and moaners would have moaned whenever it was done. Don't take that last comment personally.

They dont have to do it at all, they earn millions and millions of pounds a year through tv revenue which increases year on year and can pay dogshit squad players like Vestegaard 70k a week. In Germany season tickets are less then 200 euros a season. A price increase is absolutley disgusting and hopefully if they announce one our supporters will group together and protest

Great

To be fair Vardy's was sustained in a challenge rather than a pull and didn't hang around too long before getting him off

Rodgers fault, definitely kicked him in the knee at half time

I wonder what the protocol is for clubs with players with covid, unless they're actually ill then they are able to train and play but clubs might still be removing them from the rest of the group until they test negative to limit and others getting ill. Probably sensible.

Given these two Rennes games are the priority it's no biggie if he makes his return on Sunday instead as we need to be full strength in these 2 games.

I think you'll find we are one of the cheapest and if they do increase the prices then you cannot really blame them regardless of how much (or little comparative) income in generates. Even 700k still is an increase in bottom line. We are lucky that the owners have been so good to us over the last decade or so. You also have the option to pay over the year interest free (which most other clubs do not offer) so would hardly lead to pricing out working class fans. Probably equate to less than 1 less beer per match and most may think this is fine still.

Every Premier League club's most-affordable season ticket, ranked from most to least expensive

This graphic just shows the cheapest season ticket, not an average or anything. So it can be diluted. It goes back to where a club should drain the money from? Should they not be better at recruitment to not waste millions rather than suck every last penny out of those who are there in good times and bad (i.e. the fans)?

Now let's spin the coin and look to Europe, I will use Germany as an example. One of the big leagues. Do you know what the standard cheapest season ticket prices are there? Around £150. Works out at less than £10 per match. Those clubs over there are not financed by big companies as much as the PL and the TV contracts are much smaller. Yet clubs refuse to charge ridiculous prices for their fans who are the heart and the soul of the clubs. It also helps that terracing is still present but even cheapest seats come in at £200-250 for the average across the board. Again, we are looking at between £12-15 per match.

Why should it be acceptable to keep paying more and more? Fans are being asked to splash the cash like they are worthless to the club, and that's before we start talking about food, drink and merchandise (the latter being generically expensive all over the world).

Will a 5% increase on season tickets make that much of a difference? Possibly not but it's 5% on match tickets, 5% on food/drink, 5% on merchandise, 50% on petrol, 10% on train tickets, 100% on energy prices and so on. Not everyone can keep supporting all of that with wages going up in much smaller increments.

If Vardy says he is fit, why wouldn't you play him.......pretty certain he isn't pushed out onto the pitch not wanting to play....

Not up to Vardy though is it? Its about managing risk, like I said, this could've have happened whether he played 60 or 30 minutes but it was still a stupid and unnecessary risk to take.

I've never known anything like it, hindsight like many other times this season suggests he shouldn't have been starting last Saturday anyway but maybe that's a little unfair. Whatever, we keep getting injuries and something has to change, if we become more cautious to bringing players back then so be it. Nearly 90% of players that come back from a long lay off with us get injured again very quickly, that's very perturbing.

For me, it's not like we've not been cautious. Justin took 12 months to recover from an ACL injury, when plenty of other PL clubs have had players return inside 9 months. Fofana was initially December/New Year and has taken another 2-3 months to be match ready. The injuries were much worse over Christmas because we had to play players through fixtures the PL wouldn't call off.

Even with the current uproar, we have only got 6 out and Fofana will be back on Sunday and Ricardo not long after, so it seems. Castagne, Evans and Vardy are all surely targeting United straight after the international break. It is hardly disastrous anymore.

But the injury was completely unrelated right? So it could have happened even if he had been playing at 100% for 3 months before.

Because you look at our persistent injury record and the protocols we've gone by and there must come a point where that has to be changed to try and evoke an improvement. This isn't purely bad luck, thst defies mathematics and science over such a sustained period, no way.
