Lars Sivertsen, on Trans Euro Express (Talksport), said last night that there's a reason why big Italian clubs haven't gone for him. Frustratingly, he didn't give any details.

Be interesting to hear why that is.

Probably because he has no idea

Is the Trans Euro Express a train? Like the time someone said Riyad was going Roma cos he asked Riyad’s brother where he’s going next while on the train down to London lol

maybe because he’s asking too much and that really only opens him up to the English market.

I wonder if it has anything to do with that dodgy co-ownership deal Juventus had on him. There may be some kind of weird clause put in to the eventual transfer of ownership to sassulo

Well he briefly went to Juventus. Sounded like he didn’t enjoy his time there and struggled to adapt away from Sassuolo. For me that’s one of my concerns about signing him. That and his age, for the price quoted make me a little uneasy. That said, think he’s the best player out of the ones we’ve been linked with thus far.

The counterpoint to that is that as far as Serie A analogs go, Sassuolo is a lot more like Leicester than Juventus is…

There’s a false notion in Italy that he only plays well against the minnows.

Suits us then. we only turn up against the big boys at the moment. Need someone to come in and bully the little guys!

Personally think hes too slow to make it as a top winger in the Prem. Can get away with it in Italy but the Prem is a much faster league where he could struggle

He's no slower than Mahrez.

Yes, it does make you wonder why doesn't it?

He was viewed as inconsistent/ blew hot and cold which puts off big clubs there but the past couple of seasons he seems to have changed that. He's about to hit his prime age. No transfer is ever a certainty but if we are going to take a gamble then this is as close as you can get stat wise to one. He's not particularly fast but no slower than Mahrez. If he was a bit quicker then we wouldn't get a look in. I'd love to see him in the premier league as the goals and assists he has for Sassuolo make you wonder how many he would have playing for one of the top sides there.

Not the best example because Riyad's skill and ball control compensate, he can make space and fend people off because he's so ridiculously good at dribbling and his first touch is absurd.

Berardi is just a very different player though. More of a wide forward, goal contributions are his best work and he does a lot of that through sheer movement and intelligence.

Bit like a Thomas Muller, only slightly more athletic but not quite as productive.

2 years left on his deal, surely he's getting a move in the summer? Think it'll be to someone bigger than us though, but you never know.

....probably be a team playing Champions league football!!!

Roughly translated meaning a big club that will pay me big money.  A club such as ours in the Champions League would still struggle to bring in players like this.

Let's face it. We all know that we won't be signing anyone of his quality and it'll be another completely underwhelming window 😔

Seriously impressive technique but the time he had with no defenders anywhere near him? (He won't be getting that if he moves to the Premier League unless Amartey marks him maybe.)
