Won't play today as he's fasting

He played when he had to fast before. Evening games actually work better because after sunset he can take on fluids or whatever else they use for energy boosts.

Sunsets after the game finishes I think

Be idiotic to risk it

This is the worst k/o time for someone fasting sunrise to sunset at the moment

and today is the first day that he is fasting which could well have an effect on his body

I suspect he won’t play for much longer than an hour

Immense, getting him to sign a new contract was important because at some point Europe's biggest clubs are going to throw ridiculous amounts of money at us for Wes. I am sure Liverpool would love him alongside Van Dijk could you imagine. Wes is that level of player already and will go on to be even better than Van Dijk in the next couple of years. Players like this raise a clubs profile, encourage others to look at you and to come. The longer we keep him the better. He is Mahrez level of quality without the attitude, must be a joy to coach.

Yesterday wasn’t his best game. He seemed to lack a bit of concentration and care at the start but the yellow seems to focus home somewhat and he got better after that. He was very unlucky with his header which produced a fantastic match winning save from from De Gea. He missed the quality of Evans when he went off. His partnership with Evans works well and we know the chemistry and positioning works with Soyuncu too.
Amazingly these are his rusty return games. he brings so much quality to the team alongside a very likeable persona. He has different levels. If he stays with us for any length of time future supporters will have him in city’s greatest ever line up for decades to come.

He didn’t come off 👀 lol

Like the outlet he offers running the ball out of defence to progress quickly up the pitch, rather than always passing it around at the back. JJ offers a similar outlet as well, which we've massively missed this season.

The difference he makes is very noticeable. Especially in situations under pressure where Dan, Cags or even Jonny just clip the ball forward in hope, Wes will either take on a man or punch a ball in to the midfield - he’ll get the odd one wrong like yesterday but I like how he always tries to play.

The injury to Fofana at the start of the season effectively wrecked our season in the league

Some of us called it… Leaving Evans (too injury prone), Soyuncu (we saw how far he’d regressed at the end of last season and in the Euro’s) and Amartey (Meh..) to rely on was always going to be risky. And Vestergaard was definitely not the answer.

The goals we’ve conceded this season (have we ever conceded more in the top flight? Genuine question…) smacks of a patched up defence that was always going to be breached.

Looking at Utd yesterday and thinking they could end up in the top four 🤷‍♂️ makes me even go as far as to say that we could ourselves have been there or thereabouts if Wes hadn’t got this completely unnecessary injury.

Its a huge shame, but not bolstering the CB position when he picked up his injury has led to how this season has panned out

Now he’s back and Evans looks fitter, I think we’ll go on to win the Euro Conference

😂

Yes, if we concede 33 more by the end of the season it will be equal worst in the premier league. Not sure if we have conceded more in the top flight before premier league or not but I would think it’s quite likely.

I agree and not only because we lost a great defender but also because of the timing of it, on the eve of the season and the psychological blow.

I think it knocked the stuffing out of us before we had even started.

The lads like a brand new signing he’s bought something we’ve been missing in defence, for a lad of his age he’s so cool calm and collect reads the game so well and even makes a menace of himself in opposition boxes with his headers and goal attempts the lad is a Genius !

I'm not so sure just losing Fofana was the problem, that hasn't been the single catalyst for the obscene injury problems we have had and continue to have. It may have prevented the set pieces crisis that did cost us a number of games but without Vardy we don't win enough games full stop.

I’ve said this before but people who bang on about saying something previously  (usually in the context of how great and wise that makes them) come across as a bit of a nobber

Calm down lads your hardly nostradamus! Obviously your best player breaks his leg the week before the season starts it's gonna have a huge effect.

it's was pretty obvious to everyone in attence when it happed that it was a huge blow to our season. You could feel it in the mood of the ground and leaving the stadium it was eerily quiet. Despite just having basically battered the europa Cup champions.

Not sure about that, we have put ourselves in position to win plenty of games without Vardy.

Pretty sure we would have beaten West Ham, Spurs and Brighton at home with our best back 4 available and won without him.

When you are dodge at the back, it saps your confidence.
