Match preview

Manchester United would have welcomed the international break with open arms, having been dumped out of the UEFA Champions League, as well as seeing a mixed bag of results in their three Premier League (PL) matches prior (W1, D1, L1). All three of those league games saw the same half-time/full-time play out, indicating United’s success could live or die with getting off to a good start.

The disjointed ‘Red Devils’ currently occupy sixth spot in the PL table, but with Old Trafford lacking its traditional ‘fear factor’ this season, they’re at risk of finishing outside the top-four for only the fifth time in PL history. This could become a reality if their recent lacklustre attacking displays continue, as Ralf Rangnick’s men have scored more than a single goal in just two of their nine competitive home matches since the turn of the year (W4, D2, L3).

Despite making it to the last eight of the Europa Conference League, Leicester City have had an average season so far, but will be hoping to convert their games in hand into yet another top-ten PL finish. After starting 2022 with no wins in five PL matches (D2, L3), Leicester have since turned a corner, winning three of their last four PL games (L1) and opening the scoring in each of those victories.

The ‘Foxes have been generally disappointing on their PL travels this season and have lost five of their last six top-flight such matches (W1), while also failing to win any PL away game as a betting outsider this season (D2, L7). United have tended to bring the best out of Leicester recently though and they’ve avoided defeat in the last four H2H matches (W3, D1), much to the delight of manager Brendan Rodgers, who had lost ten of his first 12 encounters against United (W2).

Prior to this round, no team had scored or conceded more combined goals after the 75th minute than Manchester United (23 - tied with West Ham).

Leicester have the league highest percentage of total goals conceded in the last 10 minutes with 46%

I think it's because we've got a astronomical fee for him which was hilarious in itself and he's proven to be one of the biggest wastes of money in years, of course our fans and others are going to revel in it.

I don't massively enjoy the social media vitriol and swathes of stuff that goes on as it's too much but it's no surprise that our fans are going to be quite vocal about this with a big dose of pissing taking.

If he was doing well there like Kante or Mahrez has done, there'd be more respect and begrudging jealousy but its all too easy this is. The fact we've gone from finishing mid table with him to x 2 5th place finishes and an FA Cup whilst he's won nothing is another layer on top of this.

It is hilarious that we got so much for him but that was United's desperation and good business from Leicester.

We all knew a long time ago that he's not in the same level as Kante and Mahrez as they are both world class and he's definitely a limited player.

He did bring us in nearly as much as those 2 combined though ,so I very much hope we can have a few more Harry deals over the coming years.

Anyone that thinks playing for Leicester is the pinnacle of a players career has the old blue tinted ones on

I hate the thought that our fans would have given Vardy stick had he left ,which he could have done and probably would have ,had it been Utd,Man City or Chelsea instead of Arsenal.

I don't see why we should cordially to those who opt to leave us, football is tribal and as long as it doesn't overstep the mark then it makes for a certain edge when we play them.

Vardy however I don't think I could ever revel in his departure, likewise Mahrez.

But not in any meaningful manner. Slow and laborious giving every team time to reset.

In his second season I though he was especially appalling but I know I'm perhaps in the minority on that.

Wonder up the pitch,  lose the ball then be unable to get back because his legs don’t work

I was at the Luton cup game a couple of years ago and the reception they gave JJ was superb ,especially as he scored as well.

I was in the Luton end and they were really good with him throughout and you could see how much he appreciated it.

Played well for Luton ,moved to Leicester, which improved his career and brought in valuable funds for Luton.

They were happy,he was /is happy , win ,win for all involved.

He may ,one day leave Leicester to improve his salary ,international opportunities and career experience and achievement.

Just one example of a player that might stay at Leicester but might move on.

It happens and ,as long as everyone benefits from it, I don't see the problem.

And don't get me started on the song.

If we heard Forest singing a song like  that,we'd take the p#ss and think it was really weird .

Which it really is🤨

The Maguire/Soyuncu song? I’m glad you wrote that. I find it utterly weird to hear a song sung in unison which starts ‘f off Maguire’ and then celebrates the genitalia of one of our current players. It’s just gross and makes us sound like a bunch of Neanderthal idiots

Can’t really explain why but the fact this is the tea time Saturday kick off on telly gives me much more confidence.

I'm really psyched for this already. I really want us to give these a proper hiding. It's going to be interesting without Ndidi, though. I think there will be plenty of goals.

seems very Brenden, I like 2 up top but I don't like vestergaard in the back 3. did Amartey pick up a knock while away on international duty?

That line up is an April fools joke for FPL players btw. Sam Martin is full of shite anyway.

Astute. What gave it away, Vestergard?

In fairness to him, he gets a lot right. But yes it is April the 1st.

Yes, he confirms it's fake in a later tweet. But he has leaked lineups before; and before him was SfE -- who was so offensive he got banned from Twitter.

Club has a leak problem they haven't been able to plug for years, and it's leaks to Twitter nobodies! Does any other club have the same problems?

Didn't someone on here say that this guy just has access to an online press/journalism portal that reveals teams a few hours earlier.

Whereas SfE seemed to know the most random team selections going days before the game .

Considering the amount of people involved in day to day runnings of a football club, I cant imagine it's too hard for one of those people to feel the need to leak team news to a family member / friend.

It could be something as simple as the chosen 11 wearing a different coloured bib on a training routine leading up to the match.

Who knows, but I cant imagine its a problem solely for our club.

This sam guy, and SFE have both been pretty accurate with line up leaks although SFE seemed a bit more reliable.

I dont get the whole panic of some people when it's released though as is Klopp is trawling our forum and then changes his whole team selection & training routines because some random bloke on twitter releases our team.
