Reading posts here It's amazing how far away we are as a club from the 'best 11' model. It's been patchy season to say the least  but squad wise lots of reason for optimism for future success

Posted

I know we've got to protect our best players for PSV, but i believe 100% that our squads mentality and form are infinity more important than individual player fitness.

We give everything to beat united at OT on Saturday, that takes care of our state of mind for PSV. (Also PSV will sh!t it if we do smash united)

So best 11 possible to start at Old Trafford and if we're 2 up by 60 mins then bring on the subs.

Although he's now nailed-on to score I expect Maguire to get plenty of stick.

Still winning naff all this season and his brother will make another twitter post that we can all take the piss out of in six months.

I think this is already known, and is a given tbh. If we want to consistently challenge the top six, this season has demonstrated that we need strength in depth, which we don't currently possess, and we know that we need to change it up.

I agree but I dont Think many on this forum can accept or appreciatiate the Adventure & tribulations we have and will need to go through to reach that stage.

Far too many believing we are already at the end of our Targets & aspirations, and not at a stage/Phase where We have only really just began to actually compete

to see if we can consistently earn & achieve those high upgrades First Off the pitch

then again consistently translate our results & performances that see us into a desired successfull long era...

To help us to Grow und developed just into These higher Phase & levels, we need academy/fringe/ Youth Coming through. Motiviated & Daring to Not just challenge, But grab the right to be first Choice candidates. We have slowly seen, Choudhury,KDH,Thomas,Barnes & then young investments like Maddison,

Ndidi,Justin,Fofana  blume, some earlier than expected..We need this Route of rescources to take up, & push up our quality from within....

We cant push into the pools & rescources that Madrid,L'pool,Man.city,Man.utd, even Spurs & Arsenal can afford to Play in...but we can &  must consistently Drag  into those wider pools where gems,  like Mahrez,Tielemans, Fofana,Justin  push up our levels well above Top 8 potential.

Even the top clubs have flops, the difference is they can afford & carry regular mishits ( though they too produce above avg performances)

they Dont alter the clubs away from Major destinations and potential ambitional achievements...I

clubs like Leicester/Soton/Everton/Wolves/Even Spurs, just cant carry consistently 3 Quality Player out or yo-yoing..back & forward into the side.

We & Soton( I believe) have struggled spread over 2 seasons from 4+ Quality players at any time for long periods, Leicester at least 6...

Far too many that fringe players with Mixed Quality levels, can be expected to hold, chase & Challenge for those covetted Top positions.

Too much nonsense from some fans because of a below avg season, stating Seagrave is not realising expectations...

I mean ffs its only just been completed .    Any success Seagrave-effect we wont see for 3 or more seasons, most likely 5-7 years.

We also Need also a long  experiencing serving Quality Backroom staff then quality coaches to developed & grow into the idea, concept & any evolving ethos...

Too many entitled fans, expecting things just to drop into our laps, & where heavy mitigating issues are not an excuse...:dunno:

Still really don’t get the Maguire critique- especially from our fans-  I’d have him back in a heartbeat- great player - couldn’t give a monkeys how he has played for United in spells - been class for England and was very very good for us -and we got mega money- and let’s be honest he couldn’t say no to that transfer -  bizarre from our fans the stick he gets - my 2 cents anyway

He was good for us for a season. I wouldn't call him a "great player" either, he's an okay player and his career shows that.

I give him stick because of how he acted when he left us. Plus the stick he got earlier in the season forced him into mistakes, he looked nervous all game.

I'll be giving him stick again on Saturday.

Compare the way he left us to mahrez- absolute model pro who started pre season and played up until last minute - compare that to that striking moron mahrez - chalk and cheese - I seriously don’t get it but each to their own mate - you pay your money

I disagree about how he left us. He wanted to leave the summer before and we said No, and he didn't sulk. He was a profession during the preseason he did go, when we were playing hardball with United and a bit of tactical agitation on his part may have been expected.

But yeah, he was highly overrated and reacts poorly to getting stick, so I am all for getting in his head!

It wasn't how Maguire left, it was more of after he left. It was like he'd won a competition to be there (well, it looks like that anyway with his performances lol). Picture after picture, so boring, but he still talks of us hlighly which is good to see but so does Mahrez.

Tbh neither bother me enough to badly boo, I said yesterday I've only really booed Wise and Mattock, but when they are against us - as Maguire is on Saturday - I'll happily give them stick. Like I said, it seemed to make him nervous in the return fixture when we beat them.

Everyone is getting after Maguire, he's playing his old club on Saturday who are also terrible at defending set pieces, what could go wrong? lol

Haven't they also conceded at set pieces against us in their last 3 games against us? Extraordinary as we are complete dog mess at them.

Maguire came from HUll with the worst defence record in the prem that year.He was decent but.

Andy Robertson also from that defence. The other 2 must have been really shit.

Played fairly well for us.

Raised the profile of the club after being one of the stars of the world Cup.

Left for an outrageous amount of money that has helped push the club forward.

Didn't slag us off after leaving and was top class during our tragedy in 2017.

Don't ever like any player that plays against us during a game, but really don't understand the hate from some.

Lacks class😒

It's all part of football pantomime. We need villains so that we can have hero's. It's always been that way.

In that case Mahrez is one of those moustachioed villains who ties young girls to railway tracks. I don't think Harry is a great CB by any means , it shows you how standards have dropped since John Terry , but he is an OK bloke.
