We'd probably be calling for a foul other way around, have to admit. But it isn't enough to bring Varane down like he did, but that can be said for most fouls these days.

What are you on about? I'm on about the direction Varane falls. If Iheanacho is in front of Varane and sweeps his leg from the front, Varane would fall forwards, not backwards. Fact is he was losing his balance in a backwards momentum before the slight tap on his leg was made. It wasn't enough to send him down as he was going to fall over anyway. It was a tap, he certainly didn't sweep his leg away.

If people genuinely believe VAR is there to cheat the 'little' sides, then I feel for them.

I have to disagree there. VAR chooses which decisions to scrutinize, not the ref and then ref is only given selected footage of the incident in question.

 

Loads of room for interpretation as we have seen time and again.

soon as you start slowing stuff down you can call a foul on anything
