It's not. Varane is overstretching anyway, pauses before he falls down.

Watch the replay. Varane is moving the ball at his feet, his feet were not exactly planted in a position of full strength. Similar to pushing someone off balance, it's easy to sweep the leg there, just watch it.

He was outstretched AFTER he had his leg swept. Jesus christ man. Watch the replay lol. The reason he fell over is BECAUSE of the leg sweep.

VAR is the best way to cheat because it gives it legitimacy. You take a extremely borderline calls and you nudge them in the direction you want them. In a game of fine margins that's extremely powerful. 

 

They should have had a red card and be 2-1 down.

Shall I come a "sweep" your leg from from under you? I guarantee you don't fall away from the sweep you fall towards it. Varane has lost his balance in is falling backwards before contact is made.

Not really is it? Any kind of contact and they can hide behind the rule book, without any explanation as to why

If you sweep my leg when i'm not fully planted I guarantee you'd have the strength to do it. Just like I could easily sweep your leg if you were moving your feet around. He wasnt falling over until the contact was made.
