Has wept dreams at least twice a week that it was him and not Simpson playing rb for us in 15/16. Right down there with agbonlahor in the punditry world.

urban.spaceman Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 Also isn't it quite telling that pundits are openly now predicting the upward trajectory of Newcastle without bothering to mention the rather unfair way they're going to be achieving it?

ARM1968 Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 Mills doing his job I see, reeling in the gullible. He has nothing at all to say that is worth listening to. Take my advice and just DON’T listen. 2
jayfox26 Posted 2 August 2022 Posted 2 August 2022 Mills, Sutton, Agbonlahor and many others are all completely clueless and talk utter nonsense because it gets people annoyed and gets people phoning in to radio stations and sharing their content across social media etc. They can't actually take themselves seriously with the utter shite they come out with!

foxinsocks Posted 3 August 2022 Posted 3 August 2022 Maddidon needs a contract on the table... and to be told he is going nowhere. If his agent agitates then maddidon should be fined by the club for a breech of good will. 1

If we secure Maddison on 4 year deal, preventing another sell or renew scenario next Summer, I would have to disagree. Then Fofana stays, Youri goes and we get a lovely RW and the world is good 1

They are rare and for the right man , ridiculously expensive. The kids who get proposed on here , Madueke , Trincao etc. would struggle to have any impact at all. Even Sancho has found it difficult. This dream will only , if ever , be fulfilled by bringing somebody through from the academy and that is not going to happen anytime soon. Edited 3 August 2022 by An Sionnach

Lack of targets is a different problem though, and not necessarily one the club has

All this coq & balls about our best players leaving will stop if we get back into a position of strength optically. we buy a few good players to strengthen get rid of the duds and alll of a sudden the pundits are talking about us disrupting the top 6 again. Currently we look like sitting ducks! 1

Might actually help if the club recruited academy wingers but they seldom ever do. Bizarre 1

Thought about it several times the past few weeks. I'm trying to remain positive. I just hope the players will give their 100% against Brentford. The club/management should make it clear to some of them who are linked with a potential move that they won't tolerate any mundane behaviour in the pitch. This is why I'm not a fan of the season starting before the official transfer window closes.

Bilo Posted 3 August 2022 Posted 3 August 2022 Looking increasingly like he stays. Newcastle spent £100m in January and apparently around £60m this season, and I imagine will be having to make up for poor running of the club by Ashley behind the scenes. They're probably running fairly close to the wire in terms of FFP, so they'll probably go in for Paqueta who'll cost a fair amount less. 3

The Newcastle Chronicle reckons they've made a total of two bids, both rejected. It says Newcastle are now 'considering their next move'. Interestingly, it also says that Leicester have told Newcastle that Maddison is not for sale - ie, this £60m figure is pure media invention. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-james-maddison-leicester-truth-24654619 4 3 1
Popular Post cityfanlee23 Posted 3 August 2022 Popular Post Posted 3 August 2022 Honestly, if we can get Aouar as a replacement, i'm not too worried about Maddison going, he's a hell of a talent obviously, but I think we vastly overexaggerate how good he is, or how irreplaceable he is. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to replace someone contributing 20 goals/assists, but for £60m it's possible, and honestly, I know people will probably jump on me here with what seems to me as selective amnesia, but he was absolutely garbage for large parts of last season, completely anonymous when we needed him the most, he came alive towards the end of the year when the whole team seemed to pick up, but time and time again, Maddison has shown me that he's not someone who will drag a team forward when playing badly. He pops up with crucial goals from time to time yes, but I just don't rate him as highly as most LCFC fans seem to. He scored 1 goal in our first 11 games last season, then between December 28th - April 3rd, he produced 3 goals and 2 assists, in 4 months. Not sure how people forget this stuff, he was amazing in the last 4 games, but bang average, and well below his standards for 3-4 months before that. He's not bigger than the club and he is replaceable, would I keep him if I could? of course. My main concern is can we land a replacement so late in the window. 3 6
