ARM1968 Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 Not for me. Not what we need. I might be wrong, but no.

In a 4-2-3-1 with Ndidi and KDH as a two in the middle, Maddison where he should be, and we can have the option to play two #8s without a DM. With low block teams, we can do without the DM and have the added creativity but I would be even more convinced if we brought in a RW who can take on and go pass players. ...Or, he IS the RW player who would rotate with Maddison in the Hybrid Winger/#10 role that he played at the end of last year and we plan on playing 433 as they are both positional atleast the same type of player and Youri is staying! It's a confusing one.
Sambiasso Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 His stats are crap, doesn't fit our recruitment model either.

Shrewd business in my opinion. He can plug a whole if we want players out. And definitely has the quality to push Madders. Youri and Perez. Which can free us up to get Perez and Praet out without leaving us short of quality. Edited 5 July 2022 by Bakey 1

His cognitive dissonance on this sort of stuff is really weird. Was the same when he was at Liverpool. I mean, managers at clubs much larger than Leicester will say similar things. Rodgers knows what he signed up for: We were never going to have the same finances as other clubs. As others have said, we have to be a little smarter and also look long term (academy, etc.) But of course he is going to try to pressure the board for more, as well as cover his rear a bit by implying he wasn't fully backed. I like the look of Bourigeaud, although I would prefer Madueke. I think CDK may escape our grasp, but truth is, I don't think he would be worth what they are asking.
dbtcity Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 Updated highlight vid for last season… plenty of crosses but also has an eye for a pass… if it weren’t for some woeful finishing he would’ve doubled his assists Gerrrrriiiimin 3

Obviously this isn't a world class signing but I think there's a player in here that could do very well for us. 1

I am sure he wants to play an expansive game and although we bagged a few points at the end of the season, the only team that needed the points from us comfortable walked away with them. 4-3-3 served a purpose to a degree, but we will go back to a set up that will afford us a better use of our talents.

We can't afford to have players sitting about unregistered regardless of what our finances look like. This. People are a bit too simplistic when it comes to transfer budgets. There's a very narrow minded view of things, like transfer fees sit in isolation in a pot of gold all on their own. It's sort of rubbish really. The club has a collective playing budget that we can afford to be paying and that includes wages as well as all the bonuses and fees and all these other stealth amounts that creep up on you. Vestergaard, Bertrand Choudhury, Mendy, Praet, Perez, that's six senior players right off the bat on all sorts of crazy wages. A club of our size just simply can't afford to be paying players Premier League wages just to sit around in the reserves. Even when we loan them out, there's no guarantee the loaning club are paying all of their wages, it's quite possible we still get lumped with having to pay some of them. We don't just need to move people on to get transfer fees in to pay transfer fees out, we have to move people on because the squad is way too large with way too much dead wood. 6

If CDK has set his mind to come to us, then irrespective of how much Milan offers, that deal may as well not exist. If we bid £30m in comparison to £40m as per Milan, then Brugge will have to accept our bid or decide not to sell. Should CDK agitate to leave, then is it worth an unhappy player hanging around for a season. Unless we see this player as the final piece of the puzzle and with a high ceiling in a sell on deal, there is no reason to try to outbid other teams.

His stats are brilliant and so are the underlying ones. My only concern would be his age and whether he can adapt. For 8m though it's low risk. Edited 5 July 2022 by Chocolate Teapot
Pliskin Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 Is this dependant on Soumare leaving? He’s not a Youri replacement. He seems similar to KDH to me?

Worst case scenario he gets loaned back to France with us covering 20-30% of his wages. Best case he becomes a first team player and a bargain. For the money quoted, definitely worth a punt. 6

lcfc sheff Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 Clearly the kind of right winger Brendan wanted from the Perez signing, hopefully it’s successful this time 1
StinckleyFox Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 To me he seems like an upgrade on Albrighton. He plays them early crosses, has a great delivery and some nice link up play, but not necessary the most skilful, bar the odd backheel pass. For £8m deffo seems like he could do a job on that RW for a few seasons. 1

I might as well just copy and paste what I posted in this thread the other week... 11 goals, 12 assists last season. Most key passes made in Ligue 1. Only Payet, Messi, Neymar, Di Maria & Mbappe averaged more in terms of shot creation. While in terms of regular starters, only Messi & Di Maria averaged more in terms of completed passes into the 18 yard box... Don’t look very crap to me. 5 1

Dusty Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 To me it feels like he’d be good on the rhs of a midfield three. He’s very creative from the right but lacks pace and dribbling/carrying ability to be a winger in our system. I think he’d be really good for us, but we’d still be crying out for someone to fill the RW void.
lgfualol Posted 5 July 2022 Posted 5 July 2022 How many players do we have to sell in order to afford the £8m fee?
