It's such a shame we've virtually lost Praet.

He would be perfect in this 433 system as one of the box-box midfielders. He's so underated and would have been much better in the final third than KDH last night.

Physicality and aggression needed and someone calls for Praet. ****ing unreal.

Not read the full thread but we didnt lay a glove on them.

Sorry to say but Vardy having missed a lot of games is not the answer we would all like- barely touched the ball did his usual charging about and pointing a lot .I forgot Barnes was playing until he went off .Lightweight all over bar Nacho who did put himself about.

Roma are good though in many areas

Looking back at the time Rodgers has been here it's clear he has a non alterable philosophy of playing a certain way.

Unfortunately we don't have the players to play that way and Rodgers want's a squad refresh, presumably to get the players he wants to play that brand of football.

Unfortunately again I can't see any way a club like Leicester can attract or afford the type of play needed to effectively play the Rodgers way.

He doesn't want to adapt this style to use the players we have and play to their strengths.

I can't see it ending well.

Just waiting for my flight back to Heathrow now in Rome. Disappointing result but still had a great trip out here. Mourinho parked the bus and we just weren't good enough on the night. I heard a stat that in the 10 games where we've had the most possession we've lost 6 and drawn 4. Roma basically beat us without hardly touching the football. We lack cutting edge and physicality so Rodgers has a lot of questions to answer on his 10 million a year. The Maddison shot in the second half which went just wide was about the only chance we had of a goal. Shame as it would of send the away end into orbit if it had gone in. It's not going to be easy bringing these European nights back to the club, but they are so special so that needs to be the aim again now. Hopefully we can still finish in the top half and then on to next season.

Disappointing, if unsurprising end to a disappointing season.

Can’t think of a single good performance from any of the players, they seem to have checked out early.

What has happened to Harvey Barnes? Ball just seems to bounce off him. In the summer we need to sign a decent left footed right winger. Sign Lookman (or better), and make him the first choice on the left and let Barnes fight to regain his place. Albrighton can be backup on the right if we think he’s got another season in him, though I suspect he doesn’t have long left at this level, great servant to the club that he’s been.

Defensively we are still making he same mistakes that we were earlier in the season when we had a completely different back four. This suggests that it isn’t the players. The only common denominators are either the coaching, or Schmeichel’s lack of ability to dominate his 6 yard box.

Finally, next season please save me from having to watch this dreadful, slow, boring football.

Understand your point, but is it rodgers or more of the defensive coach..?

...in the end, the buck stops with Rodgers!!!

If your coach is not picking up on these situations and is unable to address the ongoing problem, then you bring in someone else to resolve the problem.

Either we have possibly the worse coaches in the league or Rodgers does not pay much attention to them.

Incredible

Sounds like he's shouting something about Manchester Southampton? Weird but gets funnier each time I watch it :crylaugh:

Like the spurs game?

I mean the opposition having a lead. I know we turned it around in Eindhoven but you saw us struggling last night a mile off.

reading the thread, it seems that my impression that we bosses that second period is misplaced. Of course we failed to make anything of the possession and control we had because of their low block which is fairly typical for us. We needed to work the wing backs around the back of their defence to cut balls back but only once did JJ manage it and he seemed to ‘get a nose bleed’ having got there. Classic Jose and probably if we had managed to nick one then they would have come out and caused us problems again..

or maybe the second half showed that we should have matched them up from the start (being away) and Rodgers simply got his tactics wrong.

the set play is our Achilles and I still feel that emptying the box of smaller players (both ours and theirs) makes it even easier for them to get their head on the ball - perhaps kasper has requested it to be able to get out and punch but over the two legs, they got first contact to nearly all corners (at both ends).

we aren’t zonal any more but it’s was a straight five v five man for man each time and with their height advantage and pellegrini’s delivery, it’s no surprise they made one count.  Maddison’s, by contrast, were woeful all evening.

.. have said that for ages, him along with  Tielemans are woeful at corners, even with their talents!!!

We do not vary our approach, even when we go short there is the inevitable miscommunication and someone goes offside or the ball is played erroneously out of bounds.

We have Evans and Kasper in our defence, and we are unable to find a system that solves our defensive and offensive problems with set pieces.

The deployment of three of our players upfront at corners does not work (it is great that someone has finally tried to correct it) but because we are not the one to get first contact, we are unable to effectively counter attack.

We do need an expert to come in to help us out, it is strange that this is not insisted on, by the club, even if Rodgers pushes back against it. If he is not happy about it, he can either walk or buy into the process.

I assume he meant for the opposition

Oh thanks... I thought he meant for a team just holding on to posession when one up.

Turns out we cant do that either!

This is it. Is it any wonder why fans are confused about his great Coach status. How can the same mistakes failings continue game after game.

How was Ricardo marking Abrahams and the two CBs outside the 6 yd box, just bazaar.

Similarly our first attacking Corner the Ball flies right over everybody, and again nobody covering the back of the box. Why aren't Lookman or Ricardo instructed to take up that position.

Same on the left should be Barnes and Thomas with Youri covering the edge of the box in centre.

It's the managers responsibility to organise these things in training. Look how well Roma were organised aside from the fact that they had better players.

I

'd love someone to sit down with Brendan and question him on these issues and others and here what he has to say.
