It’s been a terrible season really, I can’t deny that and I have defended Rodgers… but yeah after the last four pl games in which we were very poor, it is almost unforgivable that we put in a performance like that last night and went out with a whimper

I mean the opposition having a lead. I know we turned it around in Eindhoven but you saw us struggling last night a mile off.

Go it.

Imo our possession based approach means we play without intensity and aggression and avoid playing the ball quickly into dangerous areas. We normally have 65% possession and two shots on goal.   Worse  our players get beaten to 50 50 balls and await the arrival of passes only for the opposition to step in.

I am not sure this is right for any situation

More entertaining than the whole match

If anyone needed any proof  ( including Brendan ) That we badly need a player of the Abraham type it was there for all to see in last nights performance.

Tammy took his chance expertly while we continued to try and find space for Vardy which was never there.

We have so many issues but this one has been a glaring mistake by Brendan since he arrived.

Honestly, I'm worried about him spending money we can ill afford in the Summer, on average players when we need quality.

His signings haven't been great and I'm worried he'll do a Taylor and leave us in shit for years.

Not read the full thread but we didnt lay a glove on them.

Sorry to say but Vardy having missed a lot of games is not the answer we would all like- barely touched the ball did his usual charging about and pointing a lot .I forgot Barnes was playing until he went off .Lightweight all over bar Nacho who did put himself about.

Roma are good though in many areas

We did not really have a game plan. Attacking with speed was the only way to break down their defence, but we played it sideways, to each other or back. They had time to get reorganised with 8 players perfectly positioned. Explain just only two attempts in 90 minutes

I heard a rumour that, as we’ve now exited the Conference, we are now automatically entered into the Eurovision Song Contest. Is that true?? 🤔

Compare and contrast that to how we went out against Atletico Madrid in the CL.

People say this but I remember us playing it safe for 3 quarters of that tie instead of our usual high press.

Yes we did push forward late on but it was all too little too late by then. Granted, we lost to a good side, but we were passive for most of the tie and only had a go when we had a mountain to climb. Plus we brought on 2 defenders in the 2nd half, one was Amartey with 5 minutes to go. I was angry with Shakespeare that night as well.

Obviously, this isn’t really relevant to how I feel about Rodgers but ya know, let’s not rewrite history.

PS Rodgers out.

Had some time to mull over this and what gets to me the most is the fact we just didn’t have a go at the end. You’d expect from almost any team in stoppage time in the second leg of a European final where they need a goal to be launching the ball into the box, getting centre backs playing upfront, and forcing the opposition to put their bodies on the line. We got absolutely none of that. Disgusting.

well the ref did give them two goal kicks which where clear corners at the end, that was disgusting and no one will blink an eye

Agree with Martin Keown's comments re we need to learn from this...as far as European comps go we are inexperienced but nights like this in Rome will benefit players like Fofana,Dewsbury- Hall,Barnes and Maddison. You dont win European comps until you have become battle hardened. This defeat may almost turn out to be a blessing in disguise, like when we got relegated to Div 1. We know what that led to.

Still feel very done with football after last night

Left the hotel at 10am today. Only just getting back into our village now. All bloody day travelling home, and for what?

Would love to invoice the club, the manager and some of our players the cost of all the European away trips this season. Then show it as a % of my disposable monthly income to try and get them to see the relevance of going out without so much as a whimper last night

Difference being I felt proud of the team despite the result of the Atletico game. Can't say the same for the team that played Roma.

Maddison's tweet this morning is concerning tbh. If these players genuinely feel they died for the cause on Thursday then we have problems.

I agree with this, dying for the cause is actually putting some pressure on. Didn’t see any of our players showing any aggression and a willingness to win on Thursday… it was very flat.

What disappointed me the most was the away end and our support. Should have been cheering start to finish and this is from a 70 year old.

Very intermittent and spasmodic. Me and my lads were sick to death of loads pushing past us every five minutes to get a drink of go for a piss. I said to one drunk, why did you bother coming to the game!

What was the point of singing Ranieri’s name, waste of effort, living in the past. That moment has long gone, the match in front of us was a lot more important.

At the end of the match not many people were gutted, all smiling and chatting.

Of all my European trips probably the worst away end.

I was so wound up, ended up with the medical team at the end of the come on a heart monitor.

Anyway, we lost a game of football and now move on, but I think some of our so called fans need to have a look at themselves. Accept this point of view won’t go down well with the younger generation, but a lot let themselves down Thursday.
