'Deeney day' still stings, despite the various success in the years after.

Another 3-0 would be great.

Does it really? I see it in a very positive light as it made us - Vardy knuckled down, the team came back with renewed vigour and the rest is history as they say - it always looks very tinpot from a Watford perspective to me

Would like to see Soumare start instead of Tielemans and hopefully a couple youngsters will be on the bench. Guessing we will line up something similar to the 4-3-3 we played in the second half Vs Norwich.

Schmeichel

Castagne, Fofana, Evans, Justin

Soumare, Mendy, KDH

Maddison, Vardy, Barnes

Whilst I genuinely can't watch THAT penalty miss and Deeney goal, it was actually the making of us.

That doesn't happen, we wouldn't have won the league.

Same here, I still don't watch it when it comes round like clockwork every year.

I don't think we will see any youngsters until Southampton, if we do at all. Fofana in for Amartey, Mendy in for Lookman and he could rotate Vardy but other than that will be the same side I reckon.

I reckon we should play that Yannick lad. Heard the opposition were interested in him once

One of our less famous bottle jobs in our last visit to Watford. Chilwell scored a cracker and we conceded from a corner in injury time from memory. Sound familiar?

Both teams to score pretty much nailed on if Fofana doesn’t play.

We‘ll win 2-1 I think

Having scored 3 for the first time in the league in 2022, I hope we look to maintain a desire to score and look for another strong attacking display, for a team accustomed to scoring a fair amount we've not done so anywhere near enough compared to previous seasons, only scored 3 once away from home all season and that was in a 6-3 defeat at Man City.

That day gave a group of talented players a mental toughness and drive to win that would ultimately carry them through to achievements way above their station.

The 3-0 win was redemption, the Championship title put it to bed and the PL title made it a key point in the club's history. I actually quite like watching it now, knowing the effect it would have on that side.

Pre-match Press Conference vs Watford

Injuries?

“Wesley Fofana should be back and Danny Ward had a wee bit of an issue but he's fine, apart from that it will be the same squad.”

Happier after win?

“We played well, especially in the second half. The tempo of our game was much better and we ended up playing really well. Winning always makes people happy and brings confidence.”

Vardy?

“He’s a special player and special person. Having had the chance to work with him closely and see the mentality he has, it’s a shame we have missed him for so many games this season. His speed is still there. Everyone references his age, but it's about how he is physically, and when he’s at that level, he's still a threat. 150 league goals now, which is a remarkable achievement. Hopefully he can stay fit and play many more games.”

Vardy fitness?

“To have longevity, you need to look after yourself. He is blessed genetically. He still works very hard and keeps himself very fit. It’s a real positive for how he looks after himself.”

10 years since Vardy arrived?

“It’s always interesting, the difficulties around his first year, coming out of non-league football. Nigel and the recruitment team spotted something in him and took the gamble. They deserve credit. He suffered a bit in those early stages, the adaptation to professionalism. He’s a true legend of the club. He still has many more games to go, if he can keep that luck with injuries. Sometimes older players don’t have that hunger, but he is keen to prove a point. He was outstanding.”

Maddison?

“He’s been our most efficient player all season. 15 goals, nine assists. I saw some highlights, talking about KDB scoring 18 goals, he’s playing in a top team, James has had to work for every goal, he's not had any penalties. He’s been outstanding. We talked through his game and the level of intensity he adds. He elevates the team. To do it in the Premier League as a midfield player, he has shown he is one of the top players at this level.”

Maddison attract interest?

“It’s not as if he's not known. I worry about them playing well for Leicester City. I’m really pleased for him. He works so hard. The magic he has in his feet. If you look at how he pressed the game. He kept going right to the end.”

Keep going to Hodgson's age?

“My target was 1000 games, get to that and then evaluate from there. You need to have resilience. I hope I’m not going at that age. It's a drug, it draws you in and the adrenalinee it gives you. You just never know.”

Watford?

“It’s always disappointing when one of your former clubs goes down. I’ve felt for the supporters over these past few years. It’s been a hard sason for them. They’ve had some really good managers in there.”

End of season?

“We never wanted to finish with a whimper. You want to be finishing strong. We want to put the marker down for next season. We played well in the last game and now we want to continue with that and get three points.”

How to keep Vardy free of injuries?

“You’re not God, so sometimes it’s luck that goes against you. You have to manage it, the load of the player to keep them as fit and ready for the games. The players can still pick up injuries.”

Older players?

“I’ve done it in my time here, where the influence of players is important. Wes Morgan was a great reference, He wasn't playing so much but he was a positive influence. Fuchs was an amazing character to have around. He set a standard every day in terms of training and mentality. If players want to play that role, it’s important. Jame’s legs are strong and he is running fast. He still has the hunger, you have to assess it as you go along.”

Vardy contract?

“Not really, there probably will be some discussions, we're quit relaxed on it. He’s very happy here. We’ll assess it in the summer.”

Tielemans?

“We want to keep as many of the core players as we can, and Youri would come into that. But that is not down to ourselves, that’s a two way thing. The club needs a dose of hunger, but any team would want that. We have had fantastic signings come in, but you need to reintroduce hunger with some fresh signings, and quality. That will be our challenge in the summer. Especially when there are clubs with more money.”

Not so sure.

In 2016 I was laughing at my Tottenham mates.

And despite taking a good few beatings since then , I'm still laughing at the feckers 😆
