Looks like we’re going for a ‘grab a bargain before the expiry’ approach

Please see my “Doing Transfer on the Cheap” thread :D

I’m who would have thought, in the 90s and even 00s, you’d have bottom half Premier League teams, or even Bournemouth, having more financial muscle than the likes of Serie A giants AC Milan.

The Premier League is clearly the Super League at this point.

Players can go and play in Italy, Germany, France, Spain and practically guarantee they’ll be playing European football to a degree. That’s how far the standard has dropped.

It causes its own issues, as the intensity level and fitness to play and train to a certain level, week in week out is harder.

If Ziyech is up for £25M why are we not all over that????

Probably doesn’t want to come here. Has already rejected us once before

We are working hard behind the scenes as we always do, but we all know the end result. There will be nothing to get excited about.

Am I missing something with Anthony Gordon? 45m is ridiculous, reminds me of Rodwell to Man City

I don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm no football scout and I don't watch every Everton game but I've never seen anything from him that looks anything better than bang average. His numbers in terms of goals and assists is woeful. Add in the fact he seems to have acted like a total bell, I have no idea why anyone would even consider signing him for that amount of money.

Anthony Gordon to Newcastle. Seems mental, agree with above only seems bang average to me, at that cost as well :nigel:

@The Fish happy with this one?

However, if Newcastle now have him as a LW option. I'd be all over ASM on loan as a winger for us to backup Harvey and Tete

Definitely bang average. I went to Goodison on Boxing Day and he missed a complete sitter against us, but he ran around a lot and did a decent job defensively.

We go over to Sky Sports, roving reporter asks Brian Blessed - “How aware are you of this 45 million pound footballer, had he lit up the 22-23 season so far?”

I’m sure he’d be right up for another season of fighting a relegation battle …..

45 million for Gordon is mad. How have Everton managed that. Harvey Barnes must be worth about 200 million if we're going by Newcastle valuations.

Seemed to suit him far better last year than getting no game time this year is

Gordon will definitely fit into Eddie howe's 'be a ****' on the pitch philosophy.

I think it's a bit of Newcastle jumping the gun in case he does live up to some reputation he has somehow generated.

At Everton he’s a solid turd in a day full of diarrhoea … still a turd though…

On the face of it, this is the first mistake that Newcastle have made since they came into blood money. That said, given the way that things are going there at the moment I fully expect Gordon to turn into prime Messi after a week's training with Eddie Howe.

One player I would absolute love to come here would be Allan Saint-Maximin.

He’d be great playing Rodger’s ball.

Perhaps it’s just me,but I don’t get the hype.Runs like Usain Bolt,exciting to watch.Few goals and assists.Scored about 12 in a 100 matches.
