And yet we lost to them in a home euros final !

Italy traditionally have tended to underwhelm in the qualifying and then gone far in the finals. Unfortunately they seem to have forgotten you need to actually get to the finals to win them. Still, as you said, they've won trophies in recent decades so better than some nations...

To be fair, they won all their games and lost out to red hot Norway, who themselves had been underwhelming for a good ten years or more.

I think that’s 3 world cups  in a row that Italy has missed out on… that’s not good…

Yes despite winning a Euros in between.

All in the play-offs I think too?

Graham Potter gets the chance to manage at a world cup - makes it two English managers at the World cup alongside Darren Bazeley.

Bet he wasn't thinking that a few months ago.

Sure the organisers and TV people cannot wait to big up a group with Qatar, Canada, Bosnia and Switzerland in.

With Iran not going, wouldn't rule Italy being offered a place in. Be proper controversial.

Can actually see this happening, as unethical as it may sound.

FIFA are corrupt and Infantino is Swiss but has italian citizenship.

Haven’t played a knockout game since winning the World Cup in 2006. Only one win in that time (didn’t win in 2010 & beat England in 2014 of course) and now no World cup appearance in 12 years.

They’ve made 2 euros finals winning 1 in that time though. Just utterly mental

To be fair, I would trade qualifying for every competition and winning fook all if it meant winning the world cup or euros and not making them for  decade or more lol.

And Iraq go West, too! 2-1 against Bolivia.

Congrats! Iran (should they actually participate) and Iraq at the same World Cup, playing the majority of their group games in the US. lol

And Iran are scheduled to play against Egypt in their group.

Liked Evertons stadium, but a fair walk away from the city centre.

Starting to get fed up with modern fans,  people around me constantly shouting at the players, booing at half time. It's a friendly ffs.

Ivory Coast were a good side, plenty of skillfull players with pace.

The problem is, the more fans are charged through the nose and treated like customers, the more people are going to feel entitled to let their feelings known loudly.

Part of the problem of modern football.

You seriously cannot blame this on 'modern football' lol. It's life. Everyone is impatient. People's attention spans are near zero

It's one and the same though. It's about customer behaviour. We've all become consumers. Football was one of the last entities which avoided that.

Maybe I’m too corporate/cynical but we only ever got treated kinda like fans because we were sh1t. The second we got good ofc they were gonna monetise us, much like many successful clubs have historically done.

Anyway the next general sale starts today at 4pm, I will see what crops up. Still awaiting the right time in the market to flog my USA v Paraguay tickets

I think fans have become more entitled and angry because the relationship between them and the club/players is much more distant than it ever used to be in the past .

Clubs treat fans like customers with some distain occasionally and players are really in a different universe now lifestyle and pay wise at the top level .

Think I'm bored of the group stages just looking at that lol No real games to catch your interest until maybe Brazil v Morocco.

Actually glad there's so many night games so I don't have to bother.

It says BST at top left -> British Summer Time, I presume.

Most iconic uses of 'should have gone to Specsavers' phrase ...
