Said it before and I'll say it again, Ndidi is a centre back playing in midfield.

We've wasted another pre-season not allowing him to adjust to the position. He's a 'good' CDM, but his passing ability will always hold him back - he could potentially be a world class CB.

If we had a CDM who could move the ball with one, two touch then we'd be a different side.

World class cb, behave yourself

Unfortunately, it's not that rare with Wilf. Love him but if we persist with the style of football Rodgers wants to play, then Wilf in midfield isn't the answer.

It only works when he's left as the destroyer in a 4-1-4-1, much like Rodgers' first season, but we've seen little evidence of that formation coming back anytime soon.

No way Is N’didi a CB… he’s the best player in the world at defending across the pitch as a midfielder. He would be wasted as a CB, and he is key to our press. N’didi can tidy up his passing, let’s not forget he is still getting back into his rhythm after having a very stop start season.

Note I said 'potentially' - what attributes doesn't he have to succeed in the role?

Positionally he'd need to adjust, obviously, but aside from that I think it's definitely an option worth exploring.

Hes dreadful on the ball like you said, a world class cb is exceptional on the ball

But he is already a one of the top DM in the world, tackles and interceptions per game.

His job wasn’t to ping passes when he come here, it’s more to break up play.

Its BR that’s tried to make him more of a ball playing midfielder.

Aren't we playing 4141 right now?

Doesn't look like it to me, he's venturing forward a lot more than when we originally played the system!

Have noticed Maddison having to drop in to cover when he goes forward.

Except for his terrible awareness, hes far too reactive to be a good CB. He's a quality ball winning midfielder that should not be allowed to even think about making anything but a basic short pass to a better player.

If there was a time to sell ndidi it’s now, passing ability is awful and quite frankly his tackling has been non existent since multiple injuries - feel he’s just in the team for his height more than anything

I agree with you.

Perhaps I wasn't clear with what I was trying to say, so apologies - I believe in this system, and under Rodgers' management, he's maybe more suited to a role at CB rather than in midfield. If we're going for a 'control the game' approach.

I completely disagree with this, you have to do more with the ball at CDM than he does. He's the best at taking the ball of a player, heading the ball and laying it back but his vision, dribbling and passing is awful. He has all the attributes for a CD for me

Youri looked like he couldn’t wait to get rid of the ball before anyone got anywhere near him. If he’s going (which that 1st half cameo suggests to me), don’t play him at all.

May well be so, but hardly the reason we are sleep-walking through this. With TWO "creative" midfielders on the pitch in Madders and Youri, Ndidi's passing should be the LEAST of the issues why we have had stuttered in the final third today.

Why is fofana off already?!

Given half our defence is apparently injured, probably not risking him.
