Bloomin eck. During the 2016/17 season some were convinced not only of relegation (plausible) but outright catastrophic dismantling and destruction. Cheer up, we have one of the best squads in the league and yes even our own history. There's fantastic talent coming through the academy and a world class training centre that attracts the aspiring footballer. Stadium expansion plans that are actually real not just renders. And a club that tries to treat finances properly, not trying to do a Leeds circa 1999 or even Leicester 2001. This season may not meet heightened expectations, but we will be up there being disappointed if we don't get into Europe or major cup finals. Sounds like a club far from decline.

Another great thread on exactly the same lines as those before it!

FFS roll on Sunday so we having something genuine to talk about.

Then for the 5 new threads that pop up at full time

Whilst I don’t agree with the original post, can the “stop with the negative posts” also be called out as just as unfounded.

Have we got good reason to panic? Not really

Whilst on the flip side, have we been given many reasons to get excited about the season starting? Not really

All in all, MEH posts should reflect our reality right now….especially if our one decent winger (Barnes) is genuinely crocked too 😔

With Kasper leaving and the lack of a replacement or any signing. Are we on the d clone as a club? Have we reached our peak and that’s as good as it gets?

it all seems so negative and we seem to be feeling the effects of not qualify for the champions league twice and some poor management with regards to transfers and contracts.

Transition, high wage model can’t work with new FFP rules.

we are going to recruit like Southampton have recently, going for top young players who want football.

deadwood on high wages is killing us and until we get them out we are stuck. Question is will Rodgers survive it for long enough, probably not but I think he would be happy with the pay off

No, I think we will maybe stagnate for a couple of seasons, but this will give us a chance to give some of our young players a chance if we are not fighting for top 6, who knows maybe we have a good run and we do fight for europe, but generally think we will consolidate for a couple of seasons so we can run some contracts down and fix our wage budget issue, and then look to press on when the global situation improves.

I hate myself for saying this, but using Kasper as a gauge for us being in decline is complete crap.  The blokes a legend. He’s the reason my son got into football.  He’s the only reason why my wife would go to matches. But he’s frikkin 35 years old and his best years are now behind him. Nice are going to have to nurse those wages during his decline. He will not be getting any better. They will have to make the call to drop him when he is no longer good enough. It could well get nasty and I think he will hate it when it happens.

Kasper leaving is EXACTLY what should be happening at a top tier premier league club. We have some good talent with Iversen and Stolarczyk could be a generational talent.

Sorry but Kasper the whilst a Legend, was being paid roughly in the same ball park as Alisson and Ederson.

Whilst he been brilliant for us, but his performances over the last 12 months haven't warranted that amount of spend.

Its a sensible decision on a business front and longer term on a playing front too, as he will be on the decline physically

Love him but time stands still for no man.

Not necessarily on the decline but we don't seem like us recently. Something feels off

It's just different. A phase of transition.

There is definitely more an air of anxiety than excitement imo.

This is a legitimate question.

Not every year can be growth and this is a season where we won't make progression but should be one of foundation building.

Not every business or club grows exponentially and a period of sustainment isn't a bad thing.

Right.

I’m frankly getting pissed off with the constant moany bollocks that’s being spewed on here.

During the most successful period in this clubs history, and we’re all acting as if we’re plummeting into the depth hell.

Brendan has ****ed things a little bit by saying what he said, we discussed this last season, and obviously it’s caused some concern, but here’s the thing.

We are not on a decline. What we’re doing is we are gradually building upwards. The training ground investment will work wonders for our academy, and will generate hopefully quality young players that we can produce and move on. We’ve already started to see the benefits of this with the emergency of some exciting players such as Braybrook, Alves et al. And I’m sure @Ric Flair will agree the academy is in safe hands.

The next part of the project is the stadium expansion. This isn’t just a few extra seats, it’s an indoor arena, a hotel, living quarters and more… this is a potential for more revenue coming into the club, all helping expand the profile and franchise that is LCFC & King Power.

With regards to the the transfer window, it is what it is, we have a business model that we won’t deviate from. Even if we sign no one, and the squad remains as it is we will still finish in the top 8. If we don’t, I will stand on the centre spot on the final match day, windmilling whilst playing hallelujah on a ukulele…..

Clubs on the decline are the likes of Derby…. Not us.

Stop being Fannie’s and moaning, because we will hit the stands on Sunday, and the lads will run out to 30 odd thousand slapped arsed faced mardy ****ers.

We’re a quality team, and we will have another good season.

Wot e sed :scarf:

That's on the mindset of some the fans as well as what the club can do better. Some people take things way too far to drown themselves in a pit of negativity.

Jeez! It was just a simple question. Are we on the decline.

Of course we are going to struggle to sustain the high standards set over the pay few years. It just feels different this year, no new signings, lots of links to our players, dont seem to have rectified our set piece issue, aging players, can’t move on the deadwood, every other team recruiting well and seemingly catching us up.

I would like to agree with some posters that I see it as a season of consolidation, which isn’t really exciting. Hopefully we can go back to the model of signing young talent, developing them and selling for a huge fee and repeating that cycle.
