How much more evidence does BR need? You play Amartey, you concede goals. Once again he was at fault for both goals. He might be a lovely guy but he is simply not good enough to play in our defence. My Gran was a very lovely lady but I wouldn’t have played her in our back 4 either! Clearly many other reasons why our performance dropped off a cliff second half, but Amartey is a walking liability. Grrrr!

1.  Strange set up for a home match against Brentford

2. Daka for Vardy maybe ..  but for KDH ??
3. Why not Praet who Brendan said had played well preseason ..

4. Ward did all that was asked of him ..  excellent replacement for the Great Dane

5. why only use 1 fookin sub if post match Brendan you said they looked fatigued !!!

We were on the ropes for the last 25mins, largely due to Brentford’s fresh legs and us getting tired. Their manager went for it and ours bottled it as always. Have some faith in your squad Rodgers.

If you think Tielemans was shit today I suggest you go start watching another sport.

Don't think he was shit.  He wasn't great though.  Up 2-0 he had the ball in central position top of box with Castagne all alone cutting in from the right.  EASY ball to play and if he does it's 3-0.  Instead he took a limp shot.  It was easy to gloss over at the time.  Up 2-0 - we looked to be cruising.  But if he plays the pass there we win the game, even with the awful game management / subs.

We’ve made no signings. We’ve got one decent winger who’s injured and we’re forced to play 5 at the back because of it.

The game was crying out for some pace or width in the second half, but we had nobody who could do that role. Even our options to change formation are incredibly limited.

Add in Brendan’s poor game management. This may well prove to be the hottest (by temperature) match of the season - so we only make one sub? - bizarre. Not great at all.

But given the lack of signings; the lack of options and still having to pick Amartey (who shouldn’t be anywhere near a top half Premier League defence) BR is only part of the problem.

If anyone thinks a new manager could come in and magically transform us, operating within our current restrictions, then I think they’re being naive

Are you Brendan's publicist?  haha.  Blaming that result on a lack of signings is crazy.  There may be other results that happen in due time where you can make that case.  Today was not one of them.  We had more than enough quality in our lineup and squad to comfortably see that game out.

2 points thrown away after a dominant first 60 min. Then complacent, sitting back. Passing the ball around at the back under pressure, needing a tougher midfield to see the game out, and that should have been Praet on for Amartey to control the game and a back 4. Nacho on to hold the ball up in place of Vardy and take the pressure off.

Most were poor second half, but the weak mentality comes from Rogers game management. Time for him to go, certainly by the World Cup break.

The problem is. The game was largely straight forward for us. We were playing reasonably well and Brentford were offering very little. Yet we somehow managed to throw the game away thanks to the complete tactical ineptitude of Brendan…….

Is  Pochettino without a job?

keep it that way

He somehow managed to make Neymar and Messi look like washed up players and its just become clear how good they still are now that Galtier is there

No I’m not … at least not entirely. Clearly you didn’t read the full post.

I do blame lack of signings for the fact that we’re limited in the formations we can pick. The fact that we have not a single, decent, winger who’s currently fit and that we’re still having to pick Amartey in a back three.

But I’m not blaming new signings (or lack of) for throwing away a 2 goal lead and the lack of substitutions that would clearly have added energy into the game and affected the outcome favourably.

The second bit is squarely on Rodgers.

Rodgers throws away 3 easy points

without meaning to be a boblet technically it was two points he threw away as we still got one.

Pochettino is worse than Rodgers. Though I understand you wouldn't realise that until Pochettino has us playing dire football in the bottom half after spunking money on shit players

Amartey is a problem of Brendan’s own making.  He’s a guy who won’t play Cags, won’t even sub Praet on and even after a half decent pre season didn’t even pick Soumare in the squad. Furthermore, there is width with Perez and Albrighton both of which had nothing of a sniff today.

if you tie one arm behind your own back, you cannot whinge about it. Today wasn’t about no signings. It was about bloody mindedness. I hope Brendan gets the hairdryer treatment himself for today.

Only using one sub in a game you don’t go on to win is puzzling and that’s before the 5 sub rule but on the other hand other than bring on Nacho for Vardy and Praet for Tielemans for 10-15 minutes I don’t see much else Brendan could do. They’re inferior to the players they’re replacing but have the benefit of fresh legs.

Perhaps not select Amartey but that’s another issue.

The manager's usual plan B is to bring on Mendy to control the game when we're up against it, and it's invariably worked.

Maybe he was worried about Brentford's set piece threat but sounds like we had that under control.

Just a shocking sub in so many ways, he could have helped himself and the team by doing the sensible thing.

At 2-1 it was almost inevitable that they were going to equalise, we've seen it too many times before- Brighton at home last season vibes, the lack of progression is sadly plain to see
