Apparently they can ask but sure Man U will refuse .

Oh yeah they'd be crazy to allow their best asset to play!

Doesn't happen anywhere else in Europe, is it just an old school English thing? lol

Not even sure it is that old. Lomana LuaLua scored for Portsmouth against Newcastle whilst on loan there from Newcastle circa 2004. Think it was stopped after that.

Yep, nudged the man from behind as he ran into the box onto a ball. Trod on the back of his foot and left his boot and shin pad on the floor, and never got anywhere close to the ball.

But yeah, no penalty says the ref/lino....

As a Newcastle fan I was genuinely happy to see you win the title. Not sure why you have such a chip on your shoulders against us to be honest. If you look we've actually spent less than the 'big 6' and our wage bill is right in the middle of the league. So not sure where the oil club stuff comes from. Man U spend way more than us, are they an 'oil club'? As a club who's won domestic cups and even a league title, despite being a relatively modest club pre-takeover (yes wealthy consortium takeover!) does that make you want us to not experience the same out of spite? You seem quite a bitter fan base.. Hope you stay up. :)

Man City - 72% possession, not a single shot on target.

As I said the other week, how is this seen anything but negative?!

Tippy tappy footy is boring now.

Especially  if it doesnt get you the end result.

I wouldnt mind the Geordies winning it above any of the others.

The fans have been hell over the last 3 decades+.

Deserve something  inho, (Disregarding their owners obv)

Well it’s quite obvious why. You’ve mentioned it. Take it as a compliment people don’t start moaning about you until you get near winning things

"Chip on your shoulder" is a bit ironic, but we'll be fine staying up thanks. Enjoy trying to fight for that big trophy called "top 4"

I can only imagine it's to do with who took over your club. It's a massive can of worms that has been opened in various discussions before so I will leave that closed.

Personally, I always had a lot of respect for Newcastle, a real working man's place which is reflected in the fanbase, very passionate. The takeover has tarnished it a little maybe but I would rather Newcastle win the trophy than Man U or definitely Forest!!!

Southampton

Newcastle

Man U

Forest

Would be my order of preference.

For me, it's probably because despite a barren spell of 60 odd years your fans often come across as thinking your rightful place is challenging at the top and winning stuff. Every clubs wants to do that, but you have no devine right. But you're also a big club, in a big city and a one club city. You spent the vast majority of your time in the top flight so this isn't some rags to riches story of a provincial club never getting close suddenly competing like we did. This is like Spurs or Everton joining the trophy winning clubs. They might have also had years of not winning anything, but nobody outside their fan base really would enjoy it if they did. Also add to the fact with the backing you now have, this is just the start, so you are soon to become similar to Man City, people weren't particularly happy when they got their eary success because they knew what it was the start of.

You can also say that you haven't spent like the big clubs, but you are spending a bit. And let's be honest, the reason Isak joined, or Maddison might isn't because you're some brilliantly run club with a great history and string of success (recent or historical), it's because you can now pay higher wages and they'll likely get more in future.

Credit to Howe for getting more out of the likes of Almiron, that's one thing that has impressed me, and is in stark contrast to Rodgers.

Couple of things:

”your fans deserve it” attitude - why? You deserve this as much as you deserve Ashley. It’s been almost 100 years since you won something, so you come across just like our rivals Forest.

Deluded, loud, cries of utter ridiculousness from your fans (those that I know and on various platforms). Some twat called up talksport yesterday to say you’re winning this cup and could win the league. Absolutely deluded.

This team you have is littered with utter shit, despite spending 200m on it. I had to turn off when Dan Burn scored. When he played for Brighton we’d actively target I him with Vardy he’s that bad.

You’re on the forum of the team who won the league with a team worth the investment level of one of your players looking for sympathy. Only reason you’re not in the championship is because you sold your soul, cried about it when it didn’t come off the first time, and cried about it again when you were stopped doing a pure Man City.

I'd argue most of the narative around Newcastle fans thinking they are entitled to something comes from the media. As does the 'best fans', 'best atmosphere' and all the other stuff our fans seem to dislike.

I'd urge you to meet a few, or engage with the ones on here in a more open way.

Yes, i'm biased, before Fin pops up... But ultimately they've always come across as very supportive of us, they're a friendly bunch and yeah, they're having their moment in the sun, let them bloody enjoy it, we've had ours and it was ****ing glorious!

We seem to place a lot of importance on that one time our player got kicked in the head (turns out as his career, management and personal life has carried on, he's a massive bellend anyway so maybe he was doing a fair bit of winding up at the time...) and also our holier than thou attitude towards ownership. We're all owned by billionaires who have done some bad shit to become billionaires... some are just worse than others!

Yeah but he's got a crazy plan for Man Utd...

How about concentrating on beating Southampton first you plum.

There is absolutely no need to be offensive, obviously the season of goodwill has passed you by just like Leicester City.

So then, let's summarise this.

Newcastle has a good passionate fan base, are fine folk, they deserve their success and best of luck to them.
Newcastle has a deluded over-entitled fan base, are horrible tw*ts, and hope they never win anything.

Ah, the nice balanced social media of the modern world!

No real strong feelings on Newcastle, I'm sure if we won the lottery I'd be lauding it about as much as they do so no real qualms with that, more the notion that we should like them by virtue of them not being a "big 6" club and the fact they're obviously going to break into it.

Afraid to tell you lads but you become a bit dislikable as a club when you suddenly have an infinite store of wealth, just embrace it and stop getting so wound up by what fans of other clubs think.

Reminds me of the same corruption in the play-off final. Can't be a coincidence.

To be fair, that’s 2 extra games Forest and Southampton could do without.

Viewed from the outside, sure.

Now the rest of us can pull for Southampton to do a Wigan (albeit in the League Cup -- has that ever happened?)

Birmingham City circa 2010? Swansea as well against Bradford in a final (although Swansea were a top half team then).

Middlesbrough completed that. Losing both Cup Finals and relegation (in part to a point deduction for calling off with illness)

Struggling to think of the last time a team won a Cup and relegated like Wigan

Strange way to introduce yourself. Don't mind you at all really but imagine bitter oppostition fans being your biggest worry.

Birmingham 2011. They played in Europe while in the Championship much like Wigan 2 years later.
