Newcastle down to 10 men .

 

Southampton done well this half but missed key chances .

 

Not sure if the ban is for league games or just for this competition

Guimaraes's reaction to the red was pathetic. There's a guy on the floor who's ankle he could have broken, and he's not bothered or worried by that, he's having a go at the ref, pushing Southampton players away. Couple of other Newcastle players getting involved to. I understand the disappointment of getting seny off, but this isn't one that you can complain about. Certainly not to the degree he did.

Someone could punch and stamp on another player and still complain!

Longstaff should have been carded for his reaction to it 4 sure

Not sure I agree with it not being right?

He's going to miss 3 really important Premier League games including one against Brighton and one against Liverpool, that could easily have an impact on their European prospects.


As important as he is to Newcastle, i'm sure their fans would rather he missed the Final and two throw away rounds next year, over missing 3 key league games.

 

If anything it's more of a punishment that he has to serve it in the league, because as I say the only game of note if he served it in the Carabao would be the final.

 

Obviously he's a big plus for them in that final, no doubt about it! Just think he serves his time at more of a detriment to Newcastle so really its a fair punishment? 

 

As an aside he really needs to control the anger that builds up straight after he misses a chance, couple of times in recent games that's happened and he's bee carded

A bonus this year is that all four semi-finalists are genuinely pleased to be there, all for differing reasons.

 

Hopefully it will be taken seriously again. It's a great competition.
