Fofana training with Under 21s after failing to turn up to a training session

Fuk chelshit. We cant roll over on this.

Sit the cvnt, dont sell until we get what we want. He will eventually come around begging to play in due time because being benched wont help his £££ long term.

I would be willing to sit the cvnt for 4 years to proove i have bigger balls (even if i dont actually) lol.

The message really being... Stfu, keep your wishes in house and if we want to sell we will do so when we get the price we want. If not, do one and earn your pay with us or be fined wages. Whose your daddy?

No player is going to pack it in thats career suicide. Just trying to force a move.

Wait, have you lot heard what Rodger's said on Talksport? About how we wants to move him on quickly, that the player wants the move and it’s now about the two clubs coming to an agreement? Obvious but this doesn’t help negotiations?

What we cannot afford to do is let Chelsea in cahoots with Fofana drive down our asking price. We should send a message to all clubs that this won’t work when dealing with us. We should also let Fofana know that his World Cup place is slipping further away with behaviour like this.

Agreed. Chelsea must be loving this, seeing it as a way to drive down the price.

I suspect they won't be put off by his behaviour because they have encouraged it as a means of unsettling him and prising him away on the cheap.  The last thing we want to do is to throw out a message to all the other vultures that we can be forced into selling players cheaply

Maybe I'm wrong ... we will see..

No doubt will see Chelsea leave it until deadline day to stump up the £80mil, leaving us no time to reinvest the money until January; where we’ll be quoted extortionate prices and decide not to do any business until next summer

The one bit of business we will be able to do is to use some of the cash to sack off Rodgers.  There's a positive.

What’s the matter with some people on here? They are becoming so bitter, so abusive and so unreasonable. Rodgers and the club have dealt with this really well whatever you think about Rodgers more generally.

Fofana is a young man in a business dominated by money. He is surrounded by greedy advisers and they’re dangling untold riches before his eyes. He has behaved like a spoilt brat but he can learn and become a better man for it.

Yes, the team are going through a difficult period and yes there are some serious questions about the manager but some people are so vile on here it’s becoming poisonous. Banter and humour are part of a fans’ forum but surely we don’t have to resort to witless personal abuse.

The club has some problems at the moment but to read some posts you’d think we were facing imminent relegation and bankruptcy. We’ve survived an awful lot worse in our history as have other clubs so it’s hardly the complete disaster some are suggesting.

Be angry and passionate but not hateful and abusive.

As much as I agree with the sentiment here (and believe me, I do, there's not enough empathy in the world as it is), if you're waiting for a set of fans at any club, including our own, to not be bitter, abusive and reactionary then you might be waiting a long time.

It's part of inherent human nature and something to do with testosterone, apparently.

Hang on, I think we’ve all missed the point here.

If I were him (or any player in the first team), I think I’d miss training and rather train with the U21’s than under Rodgers, likewise I can’t blame any player for wanting out under his management.

Surely making this public knowledge weakens our negotiating power somewhat?

I mean I’m not naïve enough to think it wouldn’t get out, all it takes is Fofana, his agent, anyone, to leak it but for the manager to just offer it into the public domain not really sure why he’d do that.

Leaking this and Rodgers saying on talksport that Fofana clearly wants to leave and wants it resolving asap gives the impression we're getting desperate to sell.

I think this is another PR stunt by Rogers. Clearly he's not involved in the decision to sell. The board have control and judging by our history they won't budge on the valuation.

Rogers wants money for the window and time for us to invest. The board want 80m plus for Fofana.

I have a feeling he will be here for this season. Once the window shuts it will all get sorted and he will need to perform if he wants his move or chance for a world cup this year.

I think we have to stand strong. It's never about just this transfer but future dealings, imagine we're a car dealership and have a couple of luxury cars for sale. If we drop the price massively then the reputation falls and any client will want a cut price.

Say our dealership has many shit cars too so we must make max revenue on the few luxury ones.

Ok, need a coffee.

**** off Rogers.

Why? How's that going to help us when all things are considered? Leicester are away to Stoke on August 15th as they embark upon their first taste of 2nd tier football in 9 years but we must take this opportunity to commend them for not being mugged off in front of their pals last season. Well done bruv.

I would think that Top is pretty pissed off with having players he doesn’t want here on big contracts who are using them to stick around whilst one he does is failing to turn up for work.

I think that will entrench his position on the valuation. I’d be pretty confident that the board will hold out for £80m.  But these don’t appear to be normal circumstances at our club.

The media seem to be cottoning onto this and him not training will make it worse - but they can’t understand why we would just not take 70m. (They won’t care that it’s actually 60m)

Emotions are high at the moment and some people think the world is crumbling when emotions are high. Once enough time passes and emotions are died down, there's still room for Fofana in the squad and an opportunity for him to get another season under his belt before a big move.

I would say its probably un fixable now. I like 99% of city fans dont even want to hear his name mentioned in connection with our club now. But hey ho what will be will be.

I absolutely agree sending him to train with the U21 team. He's a contracted employee with rights and obligations. I would like also to see a statement about the daily fines he receives for the following:

- No show in training.

- Refusal of match squad selection.

- Unprofessional behaviour.

- Unauthorised conducts.

I don’t know why people are surprised by this - he acted like a child at St Ettiene to force the move here.

...we had to pay a pretty penny to get him!!!

It is all very well him wanting to come here, we still had to pay up to get him here.

Once again this club's total mismanagement of the situation has come  to the fore. Chelsea has us on "tilt" as this moment, we can't put out our best team as the deal is in a state of flux and we don't want to upset the Chelsea paymasters.

Since when did we become such a weak club, it really is time we took control of the narrative.

Fine him he’s clearly refusing to play and it’s just being softened Rodgers has to be stronger here your under a 5year contract mate get training And playing and get on with your job what a ****! Why would any club want to spend money on this clown he has a history of it! Was very weary when we signed him as to what he was doing at his previous club trying tk force a move to us! we need to milk chelsea for as much as we can and get the div gone! He will never have the right attitude to go to the top! Top managers won’t put up with him!

Negotiating is easy if the thing someone wants belongs to you. In this case I’d just tell Fof he is contracted to us and that will be held until such time as our valuation is met. Then contact Chelsea and explain that, due to their cvntery, the price has gone up another £5 million. Hit them with the exact price we want and say that is the take it or leave it figure. We won’t budge. Job done.

Yes, this wasn’t Rodgers being more open about a player who he has said numerous times, is not for sale. This was Rodgers throwing something to the wolves hoping they would bite that rather than him.

It’s no wonder the players don’t buy the patter of the snake oil man anymore. I mean, they’re not even good enough to beat a Sunday League low block. 🤣

It's here where our recruitment strategy over the last few years has shown it's faults. Go back six years and you know that Morgan, Huth, Waz, even Fuchs, would have set him straight so he showed up and trained on time.

But I'm not sure you can blame Rodgers on his handling of this situation. He has tried to protect Fofana first off, with his "head isn't in the right place" and so I'm not playing him against Southampton comments. It's trying to protect Fofana and give him a way back until a deal is concluded either this summer or next.

Unfortunately, the ungrateful player has thrown it all back in Brendan's face by refusing to remain professional and not turning up to training. So the manager's no longer protecting him. I'm not sure I would have done different.

It’s not Fofana he’s isolating it is our Chairman. By saying that he wants it done quickly he puts more pressure on Top to sell. That’s a very different message to what the board are putting out of ‘meet our valuation or go away’.

You can’t compare this situation to Youri, one is clearly a decent bloke, the other isn’t.

Some people need to make their mind up Rodgers is not telling us enough and then when he makes things more open they moan he’s being too open

There's being open and there's undermining the best interests of the club which sometimes means sticking to the party line whether the fans or media like it or not.

Simply put, Rodgers could have said, Fofana may have had his head turned and may want to go to Chelsea, however, he's currently a valued Leicester City player on a 5yrs contract. Under no circumstances would he be allowed to leave until Chelsea matched our owners valuation. They are currently nowhere near that so he's going nowhere. End of.

We know that Rodgers is very media savvy and knows exactly what he's saying. His comments are more to do with his own agenda than that of our club. It's just another example of his snake in the grass behaviour. He is damaging the club more and more the longer he stays in more than one way. Vichai, I think, would have had his guts for garters by now but probably wouldn't have let Rodgers attain such power in the first place, which is a huge problem financially for Top.
