Not an accountant by any means, but surely if Chelsea are paying the debt straight to the lending bank wouldn't they be responcible for any interest as well?

the only reason i’m slightly worried is because we also did this in the summer and that cash was never visibly accounted for. we assumed it was for the stadium build or transfers but it obviously wasn’t the latter.

if it is for general  cash flow we are in proper trouble

It's not a recent thing. We've been robbing Peter to pay Paul since the Mahrez deal. So, what, 4 years of TV deal money? I've found it bemusing since day 1....but it's clearly part of KPs MO, as it were.

Make money, shift money, create money, swap money, clean money. Bob Maxwell used to do it til Mossad bumped him off. It's all financial smoke and mirrors.

Us, Brighton, Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa, Brentford, Burnley, Watford, Sheff Utd

Those are the clubs that have used Macquarie and Barclays to borrow against future TV money or future transfer fee payments in the last year or so just from going through Kieran Maguires tweets

Then there will be other clubs doing this with other facilitators or doing it as a loan from the owner etc.

No

if we are borrowing against future payments then we pay interest to the bank

chelsea are simply meeting the negotiated payment terms of the deal with us

Chelsea are as bad at managing injuries as us.  You give a player a run out because the time works for their recovery. Not because it’s their last chance to pick up minutes before the season resumes 🤷‍♂️

Financially, Youri walking is a huge mistake. Another reason Braybrooke needs to be integrated to ease some of next season’s pain.

But isn’t this loan to get us the Fofana cash early, in time for the jan window, rather than an indication of financial problems?

I would say if we need to borrow to fund a transfer window, its an indication of financial issues probably cash flow.  Its the sort of thing you expect Norwich to do.

Doing external loans with interest attached, suggests KP are pretty much still broke or any desire to fund the club is diminishing.

Next season accounts be interesting as has been suggested on here that the KP loan might have been (partially) recalled.

All this expected really with how high we let our wages to turnover get.  It was only going to end well if we either substantially increased turnover (CL?) or owner cash injection to plug the holes.

some bitter guys about

can't see too many people wishing injuries on him. just a few saying they really don't care.

i think it's kinda funny how they spent 55m and 75m on 2 very injury prone defenders. then you chuck in 35m for DD lol
