What is our add on structure?

I assume we need him to play and Chelsea to be successful to get them.

Yes, I think it’s an extra £10m, although I’m not sure on the build up.

can't see too many people wishing injuries on him. just a few saying they really don't care.

i think it's kinda funny how they spent 55m and 75m on 2 very injury prone defenders. then you chuck in 35m for DD lol

and yet 200m is still a bargain for kante

I think he’ll continue to struggle with injuries. His gait does not seem right. I don’t think I know of any other professional footballer with that type of gait.

shame though. Think he’ll be one of those wasted talents due to injuries

His career has consistently had knee problems.

It'd be a shame to close the door in such a bright career

I was watching a podcast the other day and they had a member of a premier league teams medical team on it talking about players medicals and he was saying as well as medical testing they do a risk assessment on a players previous injuries chance of future injuries and weigh it up against transfer fee and wages so God knows who passed little wes off lol

It illustrates why players chose to move on the offer of a big contract whatever the circumstances. At least if his career is halted by injuries then he won't need to worry about his financial health for the rest of his life.

To be fair he had just signed a 5 year deal here probably worth about 23 million quid (based on 90k a week pure guess). I Doubt him or his family will be rocking up at any food banks any time soon with or without the Chelsea offer.

But I do take your point it's a short fleeting career that can realistic be snuffed out at any minute.

Wishing an injury for an ex player is bit shit.. having empathy that an ex player who left after recently signing a new contract, for me is whatever.

...very much the timing is what makes it seems so hard to digest for a lot of people!!!

If Chelsea had not come in for him,  he would more than likely be on our treatment table with supporters wishing him a speedy recovery.

Once Chelsea made it official, a player sees a window and then decides to take the leap, the opportunity may not come again.

We got the most that we could from the deal, being bitter about him leaving misses the point.

I wish him all the best, love to see him blossom and become the player we hoped he would be.

No. This is incorrect. We gave him a huge payrise, when his leg was in 2 pieces, on the proviso he gave us a full season before we'd entertain any offers. He accepted the deal. Then reneged on it.

I don't wish pain on him or bad health. But I will be absolutely delighted if his career is curtailed/ruined. He deserves it. What goes around etc

Not true

he was clearly coming back December /Jan - it was just a case of not rushing him

He signed a new deal in early March when he was fit.
we were protecting our investment by getting him to sign a long deal - the expectation was that he would be with us this season. But things don’t always turn out as you expect.

I feel for the lad, I've no ill feeling to him. We were only ever going to be a stop gap and him signing that contract meant that we could command a big fee. The contract was simply leverage against buying clubs. We turned a smaller profit on him than hoped, but it appeard we've come out of it on top anyway. Faes looks tidy and poor Wes can't stay fit.

Yeah but he forced a move by making it public he wanted to leave despite signing a 5 year deal so we had to accept a lower fee rather than keep a player that didnt want to be here.

We also knew the financial shitstorm upon us and he probably knew too which makes him look even worse.

But thats over and im sure he will have a very gòod career if he stays fit which i hope he does.

To delight in another's ruination is just a tad sociopathic.

I don't think he means that he hopes Wes is scratching his stump in a cardboard box on the street by next Christmas, just that he won't take off to be a superstar.

Didn't they fly him to the U.S. for a special scan during his physical?

Don't wish anyone to be injured, but we might have cashed in at a high... if he had the start to the season for us that he had for Chelsea, it would've knocked at least £20 million off the selling price if we were selling him next summer.

Its not his leg that will hold him back , its his selfish attitude. That is not unusual in footballers but it remains a team game. There have been so many like him who crash and burn in their mid-twenties.

Tbh, I find that one of the great pleasures in life 😂....not a nice quality, but human nonetheless
