This is true, I expect he will get to his best but he did spend almost a season out with a bad injury… didn’t start the season well for us either. So it isn’t so straight forward that he will be the player we once thought he would be. I’m hoping he ends up like Maguire lol

chelsea have really splashed the cash  and maybe taken a risk  with his injury as you mentioned but it’s worth  pointing out that it is a great time for American money to be coming to England as the exchange rate is so good. There were times a few years ago I’d have to pay $1.70 to get £1 but now it’s more like $1.15 for £1. Plus wages and earnings are higher in general in the states- I’ll be coming home to Leicester for the first time since Covid and I’ll be able to live like a king for a couple of weeks!

but anyway.. it could be one reason why Chelsea have been able to spend so much and in fact could explain why they have American owners to begin with..

The dollar will eat weaker currencies for a little while longer yet too. I don’t expect South American and African currencies to survive this period easily if at all either. Money printer has brrrrd them all to death.

All going well then Wes:thumbup:

One Chelsea fan tweeted: “How much was Fofana again? Man can’t even run.”

Another wrote: “£70 million spent on Fofana and he’s just been made to look like a League 2 defender with the pace of your grandparents.”

As a fellow viewer commented: “They should arrest the whole Leicester board for fraud.”

While a cheeky Leicester fan, still disgruntled over the manner of the centre-half’s exit, also joined in.

They tweeted: “Fofana dreamed of playing in the Champions League just so he could get skinned by some donny from Dinamo Zagreb.”

Be prepared to be dissapointed. Cost of EVERYTHING has gone up up and up. Anything that went up by a small amount means you just get less of it!!!!

bring your credit card for lunch !!

He was absolutely class for us but it would be funny if he completely fails there.

Aye - the grass really isn't always greener, as any footy fan should know...  Of course, if the only the only thing that matters is £££££££/£, then...

Was he absolutely class for us though? He gave us some very encouraging moments but was also part of a defence that conceded far too many goals, couldn't defend corners and had the odd mistake in him. We thought he was going to be a huge star, and he still might, but perhaps we could be accused of bigging him up far beyond his capability. He is young and Chelsea have paid big money for what is still mostly just potential. They can afford the risk but it might be that we took the money just at the right time. We'll see.

Nothing more pleasurable to see, even better if he had badly pulled a hamstring on the way.

Come on guys… don’t embarrass yourselves. We all know Fofana is a brilliant defender.

he won’t be the first defender in the world to have a shaky start at his new club…

Time will tell. He's now a little fish in a big pond.

Wonder if he expected to be under the spotlight this quickly.

The media will make every game about him

The media will make every goal about him

The Chelsea fans will treat him like shit

Enjoy the move and the CL Wes

Funnily enough St Etiene also had one of the worse defences in the league when he played for them, just like us. Maybe we've all been taken in by his highlight reel, whilst glossing over his bad points. None of that is going to happen at Chelsea, every mistake is going to be highlighted and replayed endlessly.

Thought it was going to be worse given the comments. Mix up in communication in the back line so both went to challenge for the header. Meant Fofana was five metres further forward than he should have been when the header was lost and then was just outstripped for pace by a very fast player who had a lot of space to run in to. You'd think they'll sort out that back line when they've had more time together given the level of investment in it. Still think it's going to be a long season for Chelsea though - the buying strategy was scattergun.

He was one of their better players last night. The goal was koulibaly's fault, if you push up to win a header you better win it. I want fofana to fail as well but it's too early to celebrate that we rinsed them.

Explained the fof situation to the kids a few days ago, they're only 5 but understand he's gone when he promised he wouldn't go.

We still like Jannik though because he's trying 🤣🙌
