It clarifies that if there's less built up areas the temperature will be cooler yes, but I knew that already which is why I made my post. I hope this clarifies matters in that you come across as condescending. and I'm pretty sure my post was relevant to the thread

Pardon me, but I got pinged earlier on in this thread for being off topic about things, so that last part was directed generally, not at you personally. Apologies for any confusion there, should have clarified that.

Unfortunately, simply not building any more urban spaces is not the answer to the increasingly extreme conditions the UK is facing and will face.

So when the weather is like this, what do you choose to eat? Barbecues are the obvious answer, I know.

We had planned roasted pork spare ribs and rice.

Went for Greek salad and cold chicken in pitta instead. With a decent glass of something refreshing, it was like being abroad. Well, apert from the humidity and only the dogs paddling pool to go for a dip.

Thanks. I just didn't bother to do the maths, but I'm eternally grateful that you did.

Just a whimsical memory, that's all. Nothing serious.

I’m only messing with you buddy, have a good evening

Went for a curry with a pal in Manchester, no messing.

I do find this weather unbearable. I’m far happier on a mild 15 - 20c and the sun being out.

I think wearing sun cream makes it worse though, as I just feel greasy and sticky.

It’s the humidity that does it, more than the heat though. As you sweat and can’t cool down.

Had a BBQ yesterday at a mates sat outside til late. Was at the beach before 9 this morning for a few hours and it was lovely. Short ride on the bike this afternoon too.

I love the warm weather, I don’t like the extra sweat but high twenties is bang on for me!

It's the buildings not the humidity. I've lived in a few towns in Italy that were hotter and way more humid and the flats were never that hot. I actually quite liked the humidity, slept much better. Woke up with that slightly cool, damp feel on your skin like you're in a Conrad novel or something.

East Anglia is extremely dry and today my bedroom has been like a ****ing greenhouse and I can't cool it down. And it's so dry and stuffy.

For everyone who struggles to sleep in this heat, a pro breeze portable aircon unit has changed my life, best investment ever!! 7000 BTU is enough for a bedroom

Has there been any movement or progress on building British homes that might act more like Mediterranean homes in summer temps? Seems that's what's going to be needed.

How noisy in the one you've got? I bought a portable air con unit when we had that 40° spell but it's really, really noisy!

Why is this weather too hot In the UK but in another country it’s class.

I don't mind when I'm abroad and it's this hot, main because I'm on holiday, by a pool, with a cold beer. Not actually having to do stuff.

Part O of the building regulations covers overheating and was released in 2021.

The interesting part of this is that you won't be interested, partially because it was under the Tories, but also because you have blocked me so won't read it anyway...

Portable air con is great but if you dont fork out a ton to get one that runs quiet, you wont be able to sleep with it on. Mine is brilliant but it sounds like a Harley Davidson when its going full whack.

In a very old pub in Penzance yesterday, made of big blocks of stone. Raging hot outside, lovely and cool in the pub. No AC needed.

Thought I’d share.

even on the lower setting there is definitely noise, but i'm used to sleeping with rain music or podcast so used to background noise... Suppose how loud is always subjective but it doesn't bother me at all. Sleep is always rubbish when it is hot as your body temperature needs to be 15-18 degrees (ish)
