Looked really good today, but better then Fofana, I'm not so sure. Fofana has the potential to be an absolute world beater assuming injuries don't get him.

Great signing decent footballer but has a bit of steel about him. Think he will play a massive part in our renaissance this season and hopefully one of the mainstays of our future.

Gets his head on everything which is something we generally lack. Have noticed over the last year or so we really struggle to pick up second balls, especially in a way to turn play over. Noticed today how many we won in contrast and Wouts heading ability is definitely a big part of that.

Imagine if we signed him instead of Vestergaard last season? Would have been perfect for the squad rotation game. Being able to rotate between him, Evans, pre-meltdown Soyuncu and Fofana would have probably got us European football again. Ah well, at least we fixed it at the second time of asking.

 

Signings are hard to get right consistently. Soumare looking not so bad this season, so perhaps that window is not as awful as we thought. Lookman is top of Serie A with Atalanta and thriving! The Southampton duo... well the less said the better. Though I suppose 15m for the pair combined isn't as bad as flops like Lukaku to Chelsea, Maguire, Werner, etc.

Yeah let's see after a season or so. Fofana, as long as he stays injury free will end up at Real Madrid,Barca or PSG after Chelsea. As you say he doesn't really have a ceiling. Faes was immense tonight and he's only 24 so he looks a real player but it's easy to get carried away. Fofana is one of the best young talents in world football.

Sadly this is true. Lot of pressure for the lad that only knew he was signing for us 2 days before the window shut!

 

So far, so good though! Fofana the better player by far but you know what, Faes might end up being better for us right now, because he's got more of that mental fortitude and experience, which we so sorely need. Different type of player, but the Huth effect is desperately needed from Faes if we are to survive. Fofana doesn't give you that, Faes might just you know.

 

Good start to his career so far!
