Poor Dennis though 🙄

To be fair Maddison has done absolutely nothing so far, I don't like the amount of time Wolves have had space down that side which Praet would have helped with. You can't not play Maddison though so it's a big dilemma.

I sit here with no confidence we see this through. Brendan would have hated the openness if that half so I expect changes to set up. Mendy for Soumare to try and keep the ball better might be a good idea.

Played some great stuff at times and pressing really well. KDH has been brilliant until the final pass. Barnes can run at Jonny all day. Daka falling all over the place but great work rate. Need to get Maddison involved in better positions. Ward growing in confidence.

Big half this. Important we see this through.

I just don't see how it's fair to pull up a negative from that. Just need to put the foot on the ball more for the second - but they have to tire, there's no way they can continue that pace.

Well it’s important to have context. We’ve only had 2 shots and scored 2 goals, they’ve had 13. If we want to be sure of a win then we need to cut down the number of chances they have. Don’t think that’s an unfair criticism?

KDH is not a 10 but he’s been all over the place. If he had that bit more care he would create so much.

We look shakey at the back and it’s mainly due to our press not working. When our pressing is bad it is scary how easy it is for teams but we’ve managed to hold on thanks to a great save from Ward and a block from JJ (think a foul would have been given against Tielemans for a push anyway).

Gotta get control of this game second half!

2 - 0 up at halftime in a must win game! Rodgers needs to confound us critics (and I'm certainly one) by getting the big tactical decisions right in the second half. Losing from here would be catastrophic!

We'd probably have been better off going 0-3 down at HT. At least we have history of reacting to that scoreline!

Agree. 3 up and Brendan would have been wanting to bring on Vestergaard and play a 8-2-1 formation

That reminded me of the old Champ Manager games where you'd have 20 shots and not score, then concede from every shot on target.

*sigh*

We really are paper thin, both mentally and any time we get put under pressure. We're in deep shit this season until we get a proper manager in.

We feel your pain!

I'd be shocked if Jonny comes out 2nd half. I imagine they'll bring Semedo on

We've scored the 3rd most amount of goals in the PL as of now, quite ridiculous given where we are.

Wow is that true!? That is crazy.

The reason for this is we are playing much more of a high press this season, akin to 19/20. A lot (most?) of our goals come from counter-pressing - turning the ball over in the final third and then quickly transitioning to a goal scoring opportunity. The issue with playing that way is that the whole team pushes up, leaving acres of space in at the back. It's a system that is very binary, it either works amazingly, or it's terrible. Liverpool who under Klopp were the best at it have had this happen to them this season - when it hasn't worked they've been totally overrun and punished.

Should we keep playing that style? That's a tougher one to answer. Given our loss of form I think we should have been more pragmatic, but when it works it really does work well. Faes is the perfect type of player for the system, and you can see why he looks so good in it.

Sorry to pick on him but I think Soumare is a problem here, he carries the ball well but he doesn't press quickly enough and gives the ball away.
