I hate hearing that the future looks great for us. I want us to do it now. I’ve been hearing that for 20 years plus.

We always have a great future, but until we get through such close encounters regularly which the very best do, we will continue to suffer. Do Germany or even Croatia miss that spot kick? Absolutely not

Because our players didn't have the capability.

Simple as that.

You give Robson or Venables the players we have today...

Still think ot was a penalty for a foul outside the box? lol

Our squads in those tournaments were stacked with quality and much better balanced than this one which has a couple of very obvious weaknesses.

----

Roy Keane thought it was a penalty and I can't imagine him being particularly pro-English, plenty of others thought it was a penalty too but you carry on!

Robson was hated before Italia 90 and Southgate did better than Venables in a home tournament

Those squads lacked the talent the current one does. And you know it.

And like I said earlier, if a team you supported conceded a penalty for a foul outside the box, you'd be raging.

But you didn't reply to that.

Look, I'm not after an argument, we're all entitled to opinions.

On England, we'll agree to disagree, but in the penalty discussion, come on...

So. We’re out. Really don’t understand having both Henderson and Rice on towards the end. He’s too negative.

How many shots would you have been happy with? Genuine. 16 in a relatively cagey game is decent imo but I'd love to hear how many you would consider acceptable against France.

I've always had time for Southgate. Easy to forget what a sh*tshow the end of Hodgsons tenure was and then the mind boggling appointment of big Sam. Southgate has does a great job building a team and uniting the players. I do think he has been a great man manager for England, and i actually think his pinnacle achievement was the 2018 world cup.  We lost the Euro's final by a very tight margin. Today though, was failure, and should have been won. We have a squad full of players that go more than toe to toe with France. I don't think its good enough to say we weren't outplayed (and we weren't, we were the better team in the 2nd half). We were better without being clinical enough. That was there for the taking.

But, its definitely time to go and look elsewhere to move this forward. There are baffling sub choices such as Mount and Sterling. HTF has Sterling been given such preferential treatment after poor performances and being away from the team all week. I'm also totally ambivalent towards Kane now, and i personally don't think he has played well as a striker for a while and serious consideration need to be made about his role from here on. All well and good pointing out that he has been creating chances in that deeper role, but in doing so he is keeping creative midfielders out of the squad and we are arguably missing a trick in that center forward role where we needed to be more cutting. I thought whilst Saka was creating loads of issues for Hernandez , it was like he was holding back in the final 3rd. So frustrating.

At least my boy got to experience what being an England fan is really like. WC Semi Finals and Euro finals have spoilt him.

In the 1990 group phase, two draws and a 1-0 over Egypt

Southgate won the World Cup then?

Well I thought my point was pretty obvious but if you really need it put in laymans terms - you don't need huge clubs/trophies on your managerial CV to win major international tournaments

And Robson is widely loved by the public now. 1990 made a generation fall in love with football again after hooliganism.

And Southgate had a better bunch of players, and failed.

We were Gazza's studs away from winning Euro 96.

Gazza. An incredibly talented player, but an alcoholic. And the rest of the squad weren't much better.

Southgate is working with finely tuned athletes, not a bunch coming from the dentists chair.

Maddison better not get time off. He did **** all. Should of stayed home...

Just think he is rested and ready to put in a shift so only benefits us.

Over 50 if we’d of got thru. My argument is Southgate is too negative. That was a winnable game with more positive tactics.

You’re weird as well.

Obsession with hating Spurs, they don’t care about you. You don’t support Arsenal.

This is England. To bring club into it is an embarrassment.

You're not weird at all...😂😂😂
