Three Lions is a meloncollic, nostalgic, self-mocking song about aspiration and hope. It was never intended to be a song about arrogance or entitlement.

The fact it winds people up who don't understand this makes it even better.

Well, apart from on the night we've been dumped out a world cup lol

Games like this are decided by big game players. Giroud has proven himself time and time again to be one of those players. Kane has proven time and time again to not be despite superior talent to Giroud. despite the goal tallies. It isn't a fluke that this happens.

I don’t think there’s been a player that is as talented as Kane and as much of a jinx

It is essentially true that this England team are flat track bullies. Time and time again we’ve bottled it against teams of similar ability.

Isn’t anyone going to mention the fact that the player Southgate picked, despite him not playing in Utd’s first team, was the player that twice lost Giroud to close range headers in quick succession? The first time, Pickford bailed us out, the second time lost us the game.

Playing Maguire was Southgate’s decision. Tonight, it backfired big time. That’s the reality and these things matter immensely.

Who else was he going to play?

Whose your alternative Col for Maguire ?

Utterly typical clueless Southgate!

Takes off our most threatening player in Saka and brings on Sterling!

Poorly performing Kane obviously can NEVER be taken off because.. well...he's Harry Kane isnt he!

And then lets put Mason on too because he's not been on much recently and although he failed miserable in the group games he plays for Chelsea -our favourite team!

The blindingly obvious was Kane off for Rashford or Grealish.

Grealish gets 2 minutes and as some of us knew and predicted Maddison gets 2 less than that!

Southgates (and the FA's) measure of success is being good losers and nearly winning!

I personally despise the man and his blind favouritism but the FA will NEVER choose a winner over a yes man like Southgate.

I now expect England to lose and so l am never disappointed.

He had decided Sterling was coming in before the game. Thought Saka did alright

I thought Griezman was outstanding today. He just ran the show for France, picked up pockets of space all over the pitch, committed lots of professional fouls, played a stunning ball for Giroud’s goal. It was a performance that may have gone unnoticed, he was the difference for me.

I think there’s plenty of alternatives that could have been chosen at present. Players actually playing in first teams.
I think Maguire looked shaky tonight pretty much from the off. He’s so fooking slow. And he was playing with the remit of beating Giroud aerially. That’s where Giroud can hurt you.. in the air.

And he failed.
Maguire is another of Southgate’s ‘favourites’ and not considering any type of alternative to Maguire is the same as bringing on Sterling after 80 mins. It needs a rethink.

So England have still never - that's NEVER - won a major tournament knockout game away from Wembley against elite opposition.

The only countries they have ever beaten in such matches?

World Cup: Paraguay, Belgium, Cameroon, Denmark, Ecuador, Colombia (pens), Sweden and Senegal.

Euros: Ukraine

And the ones they've lost to?

World Cup: Uruguay, Brazil, West Germany, Argentina, West Germany again (pens), Argentina again (pens), Brazil again, Portugal (pens), Germany yet again, Croatia, France

Euros: Portugal (pens), Italy (pens), Iceland

Serial big-game bottlers, or what?

Best player I’ve ever seen at the KP. Head on a swivel, always moving, presses well and then quality to match.

I’d agree. Such an aesthetically pleasing player to watch. He glides over the surface. Excellent player.

Also to add, I’m pretty sure everyone in that France team has lifted silverware, that kind of winning mentality can only be built through that. Nice combo of experienced heads and a bit of youth in the side too. Our only two experienced players with a winning mentality are Hendo and Walker pretty much
