Funny, I felt the opposite. I thought Cahs was going through the motions and treating it as a decent training game for fitness and sharpness

And, controversiallu, I'd play Vestergaard on Tuesday. We need to match up to Newcastle's height. And I actually think he's decent in a low block, which we are probably gonna have to do.

433. Play as many big or strong bastards as we can muster

Funny how two of us can see something so differently. It may be confirmation bias on my part. I kinda like Cags!

Something that stood out to me today was our height in defence.

Generally we've got a very small team, something that's been obvious to see for a while.

Brunt, Vestergaard, Soy, looked massive today. (May have been the camera angle lol)

Vestergaard's a waste of time and a lost cause but Brunt (despite pelters in the match thread) looked ok, as did Soy.

I don't need much to slag Rodgers off but i've seen it levelled at him that because he's small he doesn't like their height or height in his teams, even to me that sounds ridiculous but we definitely could do with some much needed height in our team.

Really angry we won a game of football with reserves and kids and the manager spoke afterwards.

Furious.

Hate the Cnut.

Hope the rested players don’t win on Tuesday  in the quarter final or then I’ll be hating on the owners as well.

It was shit, the only reason we won is because we have far better players than they did.

One team is rock bottom of the Football League.

If you didn’t know, I think you’d struggle to identify which team that is.

Shit times.

There were a couple of blokes sat across from me in the pub and genuinely it took them 10-15 minutes to realise Leicester were the team playing in white.

Yeah but, but... "sometimes he does something in the game which is not so good"(unlike any other player ever apparently, so he justifiably cant play him 🤢🤮)Screenshot_20230107_164316_Chrome.thumb.jpg.4420bf7faf0e357d39147ca119ec3f70.jpg

Holy fck this makes me mad. Why does he consistently have to say something bad about Iheanacho whenever he saves his ass? I hope Iheanacho leaves us for a team that will use him properly and he finally gets the respect he deserves.

Anyone want to start a thread for Tuesdays match? As they've just lost to wednesday they will be even more up for it (not that that matters... They are going to destroy us nonetheless)...

People can laugh and joke what I’ll say here but behind the scenes they will genuinely chuffed with that. The conditions, the awkward nature of the game, the two younger lads - it required effort as a minimum and they gave that.

A bastard of a tie passed. The days of top tier teams coming to lower league grounds and pissing them 3 or 4 zip are increasingly rare. Impressive by Brighton today but suspect Boro might have played with more ambition than most lower opposition

I think the stadium and pitch can have an influence. We've tended to stroll the games at MK or Stoke (as Brighton did at Boro) but put us at Newport and Fleetwood and Gillingham, everything just seems harder. Psychology at play I guess.

Can’t over state how that wind was a pain today - sometimes it would blow up and then stop dead in matter of one long punt.

The pitches are softer in the lower league grounds where they are more exposed (could argue not a bad thing with injuries)

We actually did the fundamentals in defence most of the time - especially last saloon blocks.

Our positioning was sound today.

This for us is a massive positive as we've looked absolutely rancid for a while so it's nice to get a little confidence, even if it's against the most ineffective attacking force in EFL history.

Take it. Move on.

Tbf, I think the tw@t said it before the game, not that it makes any ****ing difference. Best case is a new manager for us that plays 2 up top and makes best use of the squad he's got rather than deciding Barnes on the left and madders on the right is better than 2 strikers who are better in a 2 with maddison in his best position!

You felt reassured by iverson today?

he had one save to make , he did almost nothing with his feet (cos he didn't have to) and he hardly commanded his box when they threw long throws and crosses in.  No judgement to make on today for him.

Yeah, but he’s not Ward.

What a pathetic effort that was , the 1st half I thought we were playing Manchester city , as we played across and back at a snails pace , and there’s only one person to blame for that game tactic, is Rodgers

Apologies for my ignorance, but does Iheanacho still hold that record for most amount of goals in the FA cup since a certain year?

Most amount of FA cup goals in Kent, by a premier league player, in 2023

Also can’t be good for his confidence can it. Interesting school of management…

Perhaps one of the biggest indictments about this game is that the post match thread here is only on its 5th page! That’s how much people want to talk about it 🤣
