To his credit I've always liked how he's respected the cup competitions. The way we dispatched Stoke and Brentford  (i think it was) the season we won the FA Cup was beautiful.

In the 4 seasons Rodgers has been with us we have got to at least the Quarter finals (last 8 teams) in both cups currently 5 times out of 7 hopefully make it 6 in 8 with 2 more win in this years FA cup.

EFL Cup consists of 92 teams & we ended up:-
19/20 - Semi's lost to Villa in a replay
20/21 - 3rd round lost to Arsenal
21/22 - Quarters lost to Liverpool on pens
22/23 - Quarters v Newcastle - next round Semi's

FA Cup consists of 124 teams & we ended up:-
19/20 - Quarters lost to Chelsea
20/21 - Won it v Chelsea
21/22 - 5th round the infamous Forest debacle
22/23 - 4th round v Walsall - next round 5th Round

So yes i'd say JP is wrong

Pearce is one of the few commentators that really gets on my tits. He's an opinionated, arrogant slob of a man. Just his voice winds me up. Most commentators talk rubbish (it kinda goes with the job tbf) and I can pretty much forgive that, but Pearce, no way. He seems to think he is football's resident genius or something; there are opinions but he thinks he is right. Lord it gets to me.

I watched the last five mins or so of the Villa losing to Stevenage match yesterday on Betfair. They had crown noise without any commentary.  It was how I like it best. The crowd noise but no voice overs. Shame Sky and BT etc don’t have that option.

Listening to the commentary on Saturday the thought that came to mind was he'd not done much research pre match, yet still proffered his opinions. 

 

To be honest, I thought he'd retired. And he really should do!

Commentry was terrible ,camera angle was even worse. if your gonna have a bird commentate then at least make sure she knows her facts ffs . I muted all the comms when she said leicester will want to concentrate on the cups now they have solidified thier prem status for next season. EEEER   HELLO  were 2 points off relegation.

Pearce got a few things wrong, as per usual, but I thought his co-commentator - on the few occasions she was allowed to speak - was even more embarrassingly misinformed. For her to claim that we no longer have relegation worries was outrageous, suggesting that she hadn’t even bothered to check up on any of our results since the World Cup.
