Am I the only person thinking he isn’t the answer? Especially at £40,000,000?

Are Newcastle also being dicks to drive up the money? Or did the want him?

Classic Leicester here will be a 10 day internal discussion before going back with a slightly higher bid which is rejected and we run out of time.

that’s how we often try and do business - maybe congerton made us bid what clubs asked for and deals were done a little faster.  Now he’s gone we could be reverting back to type.
anyway, there isn’t time in the January window for this - you must have deals properly lined up before it opens. Of course we may be victims of other clubs showing an interest and the fiorentina president seeing an opportunity. Whatever the situation, we do need to be quicker and more certain in the winter window. (and learn which clubs can be relied on not to go back on their word).

brendan seemed pretty certain about players coming in late dec - we thought that was him being brand Brendan but perhaps we did have this lined up and now it’s gone sour ….

Ryan Fraser is available, probably for an obscene amount, we should pay that.

Can’t tell if this is a serious comment or not?

Actually he’d probably get in our side at the moment. Jesus we are at rock bottom…

£40m for someone with his injury record is ludicrous.

Think we seriously need to go back to the drawing board.

Pretty sure you could pick up Ismalia Sarr for circa £25-28m, from Watford.

Proven RHS attacker, in this country.

Never been that impressed with him in the PL

We were never seriously in. With players like that going for actual obscene amounts we just put a rumour out there to appear if we were willing to splash the cash on an exotic sounding player.

The club would have known way beforehand that it would have taken 50-60m if not more because of January but they have to look like they are doing something.

I reckon they'd have bricked it if Fiorentina accepted the offer.

Bit of both I think they want to show they can outspend clubs like us but if Gonzales has agreed to sign for us, shows what type of club Newcastle are by bumping up the price whilst negotiations are ongoing !

There's a reason he is still at Watford. He is very average. Had one blinding game against Liverpool a few seasons back, and that's it.

Screw it - leave the table and let the Italians  screw Newcastle for 50 million squid they got plenty money to burn. Move onto another target quick!

Expected to join mid table Girona in Spain this month

Everything about his numbers and how he plays would make you think he should have plenty of teams fighting to get him

I think there has got to be something about him that has seemingly put everyone off to allow Girona to get a seemingly easy run at him

...or be the player himself, not pushing to come to the Premier League!!!

Ziyech for me waited too long, he has taken a season or so to adapt, but with his talents, he should be at a top club and taking the Champions League by storm. I would love a Tsygankov who wants to test himself, he would bring so much to this team. Barnes could feed off him, he can cover any loss of creativity that would go if Maddison leaves and may just be the catalyst for Maddison to sign an extension, believing we are about to go somewhere. Very good as a dead-ball specialist, from any distance, where Maddison needs the distance to get the ball over the wall and bring it down again.

If he lacks the faith in himself to compete in the Premier League then it is probably wise that he looks elsewhere.

He is an international player and his agent will use that. If all his compatriots are on £5 million a year plus , he will want at least that. Leicester is not Florence and then , oh yes at the moment , there is Rodgers.

Doesnt look that bad to me? Barnes numbers but on the opposite wing. Theres been enough bids for him over the last few years so im not sure ‘theres a reason hes still at Watford’ really cuts it tbh
