There seems to be alot of the blame for our quite shocking demise rightfully being pointed at Brendan Rodgers. But there is definitely a shift in that more is being pointed towards the owners. Just interested to see where people are laying the blame currently. And whether it's the manager or the owners people want to see changed first.

For me it has to be the manager first because tactically he is inept. But then would new managers look at the total lack of ambition and investment from the owners and and not touch us with a barge pole? It's quite an unusual situation to have both a manager and an owner that might need to move on at the same time.

If Brendan stayed and Top sold up, would you give him a chance under new ownership and investment?

I imagine Rodgers bought himself a lot of good will and influence and cemented that with the FA Cup win. Elite managers want to stamp their authority from top to bottom: Wenger, Guardiola, Ferguson, Klopp etc all wielded immense power at their clubs in all aspects and they are lauded for it. The board did the same (and at the time rightly so). But it's backfired. Took a risk, it's failed and now looking for an exit strategy. Can't blame the board for making the decision but they are accountable. The current issues with the team play are purely management related.

Clearly Brendan, the owners are financially constrained by the new rules and I'd rather see them not gamble the future of the club throwing good money after bad.

Brendan needs to look at this squad, assess who is fit and play to their strengths. Playing any sort of possession football with Amartey, Ndidi, Thomas, Perez, Albright on all on the pitch against a high pressing side is just madness.

It'd be foolish to suggest that 100% of the blame can be put on Rodgers but he's definitely the first thing that needs to go. He clearly thinks he's bigger than the club despite showing himself to be  tactically inept and a poor motivator. Too much damage has been done for his removal to fix everything but it's a start and something that should happen very soon

Both - And have just said on another thread, it is now time for Top to either get some advisers in with more footballing experience (and probably replacing Rudkin and the like) or to sell up... but not to just anyone. I would rather Top and his family stay, if it meant not having some fly by night US investor who just uses us for his own profits/gains etc. There have been plenty of examples of that ownership model just recently.

And as for Brendan - I have wanted him out the door for about 2 years, could see this mess coming a mile off. Not only because of the performances, but what others had said about him at his previous clubs. His transfer record, injury record, and going to war with owners, is a common theme across them all.

Something has to change quickly, to break this cycle, but the manager first and foremost to help us try and stay up at the very least.

I refuse to accept Rodgers can't get this team performing to a higher level. Our starting 11 this season is mid-table, easily. The standard of the teams at the bottom this season is piss poor, these players aren't on that level.

Say what you want about new investment, of course we need that and it's frustrating that it hasn't happened but these players aren't showing a basic level of commitment to the team, for me that is down to the manager. We're unbelievably weak and easy to beat, we have been for over 18 months, I don't think that is down to lack of investment. It's definitely become worse now he's seemingly thrown his toys out the pram, but the signs haven't appeared this season, the different ways we have collapsed under Rodgers had to be seen to be believed at times.

The answer is both but Rodgers time here is definitely over, he needs replacing ASAP.

I'm surprised less people are saying both.

The lack of investment has really hamstrung us - that we're still playing the likes of Perez in 2023 and relying on players who are on the cusp of contract expiry and a 36 year old who is on the decline to dig us out of games is a damning indictment of our failure in the transfer market in the past two seasons.

Everything else is on Rodgers though - the allergy to 2 up front, the turgid possession-for-the-sake-of-it football, ignoring academy prospects to instead stick with perennial failures,  and the complete failure to instill confidence in players who thrive on it (Barnes and Castagne being the best examples - both shadows of themselves when playing with fear).

I do think we need to bin Rodgers first, because surely ANYONE else will be able to inspire these players, who are far more capable than their current levels suggest. But beyond that, it's clear we have a soft underbelly and some pretty chronic problems in multiple positions that have built to a head over the past 3, even 5 seasons. That's only going to be fixed with wholesale changes in both personnel and the overall culture around the squad, and I'm starting to have serious doubts that King Power have the will to invest so heavily as to make that a reality.

Well the Owner has the ultimate responsibility, that's quite a simple one. I'm hoping the lack of communication to the fans means we're looking to clean house in the summer and get in a new DOF and Management team.

I don't know anything about how the club is run. But from the outside looking in, we messed up the recruitment after the title winning season. I think they allowed BR to influence decisions more than we should have. Pèrez, Vesti, Bertrand etc. We are skint because of bad choices.

I don't think it's the owners fault, it's higher level management issue. Whether that's Rudkin, I don't know. Certainly BR, hasn't really got the best out of his resources either.

They are both to blame, the board for continuing to entrust the future of the club to people who are patently not up to it and Rodgers for not only his awful management of the squad but also for his part - even if his direct involvement is minimal, we have to assume Congerton came in on his recommendation - in bringing in so much dross. In terms of the immediate priority of not getting relegated then clearly Rodgers needs to be first out the door to try and inject some much-needed life and positivity into the team and the club as a whole. It reminds me of late-period Solskjaer at Man Utd in that yes, there are definitely big issues at the club that go beyond him, but there's no reason that should distract us from the fact that he is failing to do his job to a level even approaching satisfactory while loudly absolving himself of responsibility to anyone who'll listen.

Long term though there obviously need to be a number of changes higher up, first and foremost a director of football who is actually qualified for the role beyond simply having been at the club a long time and having once convinced Man Utd to overpay for a player (which, by the way, is hardly an achievement unique to him). I don't want the owners out as such, nor do I want them to start spunking money left right and centre because I don't think that's the way out - just stop the insane loyalty to underperforming employees and start at least trying to assemble the personnel and systems necessary for us to punch above our weight. We need to take a leaf out of Brentford and Brighton's book and spend smarter rather than bigger, particularly if our owners are serious about self-sustainability.

Ultimately, all responsibility sits with the owners.

They knew what they were getting with Rodgers. Maybe he sold them down the river, or maybe he is largely doing exactly what he said he would be doing, but there is no point hiring an elite manager (citation needed) if you are not going to back them.  In Rogers case, one window was never going to be enough and he always going to want big funds. It was going to needed frequent incomings and outgoings. I cannot believe Rodgers signed up to what he is getting from the club right now (or maybe he was purely motivated by the money).

But, Rodgers behavior in the summer warranted dismissal. I don't really care he turned is around a bit leading to the WC. He behaved appallingly. Seems he got credit in the bank for the FA cup and injury issues, but the club accepting his behavior sent a strong message that they were not in control of the situation. But again, the fact he wasn't sacked is an issue that sits with the owners.

There are significant problems at the top of the club that need to be resolved. Currently, i presume they are sticking with Rodgers because the manager situation is one problem too far to deal with.

As always it's abit of everyone.

Rodgers has throwing his toys out the pram & hasn't improved the players he has well enough to be blame-free. he's also made too much of the squad feel like outcasts.

Rudkin/Recruitment team for some awful signings over the last 2/3 years when it was crucial we got them right (especially Summer 2021 when we didn't sell anyone for a big fee).

Owners for allowing all of this to happen, they are ultimately responsible and have clearly placed too much faith in the wrong people -  although I can understand the vast majority of those decisions.

Jon ****ing Rudkin

He is definitely culpable along with Susan Whealan and Top for letting these 2 over commit to wages and long contracts for injured players or ones that have just come back.

I would love to see a restructuring as we can not go on like we are, however, the first man that needs to go has to be Rodgers as he is taking this team down.  We were beaten last night before a ball had been kicked and I think most of us knew that was the case with his comments pre-game.  The players are so de-motivated, we have been schooled twice in 2 weeks by a team we were miles ahead of 18 months ago.  I know they have improved but that was the performance where you say enough is enough.

You can’t sack the players

you can’t sack the owners

the board will protect themselves

its always the managers fault

this particular manager hasn’t helped himself as he’s been way too transparent about what he’s up to ……
