Like with Kante, covered a lot of grass for the shirt with pride and grit; something one or two current players could be doing more of.

The embodiment of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. Such an outstanding squad member - I’ll forever want to be a woman and have his children. Sorry @Jon the Hat, I know how much this concept offends you. Yes, the foetus would gestate in a box.

I know people talk about his overhead kick vs Newcastle, because of its importance in the title winning season… But I always thought his best one was one where Albrighton sent over a fast-paced cross from the left and he lashed it in on the volley first time. Can’t remember who it was against, think it was sometime in 2016-17 though.

Loved Shinji. One of the weirdest and most uncategorisable players ever though. He was a striker who never scored or got assists and fell over all the time but was still somehow brilliant. Never scored a normal goal either. They were all either screamers or weird, bizarre efforts.

There was a point in the 15/16 where me and my mates coined the term ‘Shinji goal’ where the ball never hits the net (but goes beyond the line obvs).

The volley one was probably Club Brugge off a Fuchs cross.

He introduced an unpredictable chaos onto the field - rather like releasing a pinball and watching it ricocheting around or the random path of a whirling dust devil. And yes, he was prone to falling over for no apparent reason. Away to Millwall in the cup, I recall after a crap lunging tackle in the box, people screaming for him to go down for the penno, which was the one time he stayed on his feet. My favorite Okazaki goal (aside from the overhead kick against Newcastle) was also against the Toon, in the away leg that season because, in contrast to the one scored at home, it's possibly one of the most underwhelming, crap and unspectacular goals scored in league history. My favourite assist was against West Brom, when he slipped and fell on his arse, in so doing inadvertently playing a perfectly timed and weighted through ball through to Vardy to score. One the most memorable headlines that season (and there were many), was in the Times Sport section, that simply read, 'Okazaki Acrobatics'.

Was that the goal at Newcastle away when it bounced up and hit him in the face about 1 foot out? :crylaugh:

Found myself watching that with a big grin on my face.

Wonder how many of those would be disallowed with VAR although I'm sure you could look back at and find the same with every club's goals?

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching that video. It brought back so many memories.

We were a really an exciting team to watch fast attacking football.

It must have been a real joy to play in that Team.

The little man played his part admirably with some terrific goals, supported by Mahrez, Vardy and Albrighton.

Yep. In total contrast to Rodgerball.

What a player Shinji was for us, always played with his heart on his sleeve and a smile on his face!

The weird thing is that while so many of his goals were of the ugly variety, Shinji was capable of some moments of stunning technical flair.

Oh the memories lol I’ve laughed and cried thru everyone recalling classic shinji moments. If Jackie Chan played football it would be shinji.

all joking aside like the other players he  embodied the spirit and identity of the fearless foxes.

never say die and gives his all selflessly every game. Such a brave little happy chappy. This is why someone really needs to make a blockbuster movie about this team and what they achieved. Forget the whole Vardy biopic. Without this team there would be no Vardy. The script writes itself literally there is so much good material for a screen play they would have a hard time what to keep in and what to cut.

An absolute ****ing legend. My prized football possession is my Japan shirt with him on the back…..

He scored some chaotic belters…. The goal he scored against Man City? That insane volley if I remember? What a player, what a man!

Didn’t he used to play Pokémon games on the coaches to matches?
