Well Brendan only used 1 sub on a sweltering day whilst Frank used all 5 successfully last time we played them so Probably not,  it’ll be a case of Brendan’s run them ragged all week with a 3hr run on Saturday morning too followed by a full training session before the game !!

Yea, I remember that day.

One of the hottest days of the year and BR subs one ( Daka on for KDH when we are 2-1 up ) and Frank sensibly changes half the team.

The day I lost all hope in our elite manager

It wasn’t the sweltering hot temperatures that affected the team in October though was it lol

Absolutely correct in what you say though.

Bring Maddison back into an 8 role, with KDH on the left of the midfield 3.

                      Iversen

Ricardo - Souttar - Evans - Kristiansen

        Madders - Mendy - KDH

     Tetê      -      Daka      -      Barnes

And then after the game pointed out how warm it was and how the players were tired, total nonsense only making one change that day.

Brentford have not lost a league game that they’ve taken the lead in for over 2 years. 👀

And we’ve not taken the lead in a league game for (seemingly) over 2 years :scarf:

Well I am off to start "The Ever obliging Brentford FC" thread on the griffin grapevine forum, that should gets us the 3 points for sure

Rodgers will tell us afterwards that we were too passive and need to work on it.

Whatever they are working on has produced the most timid, spineless City team that I can ever remember. *

Brendan Rodgers Pre-Match Press Conference vs Brentford

Injuries?

“Victor Kristiansen won’t make it. He’ll probably miss out on this one. Jonny Evans we just have to wait and see. There’s a doubt around him.”

Evans?

“It’s a player down. We have to get on with it. We have to cope with it.”

Setback for Evans?

“Yes. Hopefully he’s back for the weekend, if not after that.”

Why five defeats in a row?

“It’s concentration. We’ve just had costly moments in games. The Villa and Spurs games, we showed our level. We deserved to lose to Arsenal and United, despite a good start at Old Trafford. But we’ve had five other games where we’ve played well but not got the results. Fulham, Forest, Brighton, Southampton, and Chelsea. We’ve taken one point. There are moments in the games that are costing us. It’s not about the capability. It’s not about the knowledge, because they’re doing their job. It’s about concentration.”

Taking chances?

“You always want to create opportunities but taking them is important. The important thing is not making mistakes. At Southampton, a few mistakes cost us and then we don’t get back into the game through scoring goals. We’re under no illusions to the task. We’ve got 12 games left and there’s a nine-team league now that we want to finish at the top of. We need to increase our concentration level. We have to see the good moments through and if we do, we’ll pick up the points.”

Relegation battle?

“It’s a great coaching challenge. There’s a lot of points to play for, 36. There’s more than enough there to put us in a good position. We’ve just got to concentrate on performances. I really believe in the players. It’s playing at the highest level, and when they do that, we look a good team.”

Set a points target?

“No.”

Plan during international break?

“Sometimes it’s about allowing the player to recover mentally. It’s been a tough season for us. It will be about that freshness because we know that when we come back, it will be foot to the floor all the way through. I want the players to be fresh.”

Toney?

“I’ve been really impressed with him and the team. What I enjoy watching about Brentford is that they haven’t been affected by the Premier League. They have come up and are still hungry for that. They do the basics really well. Ivan has the confidence and technical quality. He’s a street player also. He’s aggressive and strong. We have to be ready for the team.”

How to train concentration?

“You train it every day in terms of your exercises but under pressure it’s totally different. It’s about doing the basics of the game well. We do a lot of work about decision making in training.”

Are players fighting?

“I don’t think that’s in question. The players have given everything. We’re not at the height of our confidence. The frustration is that in the moments we switch off and we don’t get into position, we get punished. The players are an honest group of players. It’s important to stay upbeat as a leader. We’ve shown before we can come through difficult moments. It’s about fighting, running, and organisation. If you cut out mistakes, it gives you a chance to get results.”

Relegation?

“Our objective now is very clear. We have to get enough points to stay in the league. There’s no tip-toeing around it. We haven’t been good enough so far. The goal is very simple.”

Play 3-4-1-2 again?

“We had one winger available and that was the reason why we did that. You have to be flexible in your system. Brentford play 4-3-3 and in certain games, they will play 3-5-2. You have to have flexibility. We had to make that adjustment because Barnes wasn’t fit to start. Him being available and Tete being available gives us an opportunity to play 4-3-3.”

Tielemans contract?

“That’s with the club. Youri is towards the end of his contract, we’ll just have to see where that one goes."

Other contracts?

“There’s nothing on that. There’s nothing more to add on any contract situation.”

Tete?

“It was purely a loan deal and then we’ll reassess it at the end of the season.”

Sounds like it is probably going to be 433 again then with the only difference being whether it is Amartey or Evans with Souttar

                          Ward

Ricardo, Amartey*, Souttar, Castagne

                   KDH, Mendy

            Tete, Maddison, Barnes

                    Iheanacho

*Evans for Amartey if fit enough

Evans set back ?

No doubt declaring himself not fit and saving himself for NI.

We need rid of him in the summer.

So basically it’s going to be a flat back 4 with Amartey and Souttar in the middle. Ward in goal…..

Its Amartey , Cags or Vesty.

If you had £5, who would you put it on?

I reckon you might get 5000-1 on BR not playing Amartey......

No questions about the fan discontent at the Chelsea game then?
