OFF Mendy ON Soumare

Terrible move that rightly got slaughtered.

He sees Soumare as a more attacking player than Mendy, making it theoretically a positive and brave change…….however……..for the umpteenth time Soumare jogged and walked around as if on a light warm up, messed up attacking moves and was sieve like defensively watching people run off him and not reacting.

Potentially capable of better mid and long range passes than Mendy but just f***s them up.

 

If you want to be brave / kamikaze at that stage of the game and want a pivot to move the ball forwards I’d rather see Praet in there as our deepest midfielder and admittedly little defensive nouse. Handing Soumare a shirt week after week devalues the badge. Foxes never quit? He f*****g does, I ran for my bus with more intent than he showed in his “Cameo / s***show”

Even if Mendy was knackered/ injured, you don't bring Soumare on. Yes we have limited options but he is the worst by far.

Soumare should never play for Leicester again, his attitude stinks. Just look at the way he slowly jogs back to the edge of the 'D' as Kovacic scores the 3rd.

 

Not sure why he would be considered a more attacking option either without a single assist or goal this season.

This. Rodgers has said this more than once. I don’t get it. For me Mendy does play progressively. He’s always on the half turn and tries to play the ball forward. He’s a way more complete, consistent and mobile pivot than Soumare. I still can’t work out what Soumare is but if you are going to bring him on surely it would be for KDH as he appears to have less responsibility for playing any kind of pivot role and tbh he isn’t as vital as Mendy has become for us.

Mendy was outstanding yesterday. Showed grit, determination, aggression and was composed on the ball.

I get that he might bring Mendy off after a hard shift, but replacing him with Soumaré is an insult.

 

KDH, for all his energy and work, always fades near the end of games.  I would think that KDH, rather than Mendy should go off, and that someone prepared to run, tackle and work (i.e. not Soumaré) should come on as a replacement.

A manager that plans his substitutions before the game has already started regardless of the score or the teams momentum. It is the same every week, an absolute fraud of a manager. He would look at that and think i havent played Soumare for a few games so i better stick him on. He will do the same with Ndidi next week and leave Soumare on the bench 1 million percent. Hes the most predictable manager in the world

If a tactical change was needed, it was Praet for KDH (or Maddison who was hobbling) 

 

If Mendy was struggling for fitness (doubtful, but let's just say) then Wilf (if he was sub, I haven't looked) to replace him and at least cause some wild leg chaos in midfield. 

 

Soumare is never ever the answer unless we are down to the last four positions to field an xi.

Because Soumare has been nice to Brendan at some point and not questioned any decisions he's made. 

 

Wild guess but wouldn't be surprised if it was true. 

 

But I feel Brendan just doesn't see how shite Soumare really is. Quite worrying to be honest.

Said elsewhere in the thread the sub was wrong, Mendy was having a good game but that midfield is so dysfunctional in its set up. 
 

The disallowed Felix goal - the whole of it just went missing. Mendy and KDH nowhere to be seen. There’s a real problem there. We gave Alcaraz a free role for Saints last week because the midfield is so yucky in shape.

Mendy not superman, but an accomplished player in his position. Seldom gives ball away, pops it quickly,  progressively, decent tackler, good attitude, good under pressure.  Obviously not going to have physicality of Partey, or peak Wilf, but many others are due criticism before him. Also unlike most of the others, manages to perform  IN SPITE of Rodgers.

I think the downturn of Ndidi is the single biggest reason for our decline. We have been absolutely piss easy to play through for ages now.
